I bought the RF100-400 as a lightweight "walk-around" alternative to my existing RF100-500L. I have found so far the image quality to be very good (as tested on my R5). Not quite as sharp and contrasty in the corners as the 4-5x more expensive RF100-500L lens, but still pretty good. Like all the RF lenses, it is very sharp in the center part of the image. I have had this lens from day 1 and really like it. Its the only zoom lens made by Canon at this time that is 100% compatible with the RF extenders both the 1.4x and 2.0x. This is so very lite at 635 g. Its a very good GP long zoom.  It also has the very fast and accurate NANO focus system :)
