I’m a young wildlife photographer* from the Netherlands, and am currently using the EOS 2000D with a EF 90-300mm F4.5-5.6 kit lens from 2003. My results are really disappointing, which I could expect knowing the image quality of the lens. Because of this, I really want to upgrade, both my body ( because it’s too basic ) and my lens (too soft). I’m on a tight budget (around 1400 euro’s) and the prices are very high in the Netherlands. To make it even more difficult: I want to go mirrorless,...

I’d like to ask if anyone has used both lenses either on an R body or on their respective mounts, and wether, the 400mm focal length not being necessary, the brighter aperture on the EF lens makes it a more compelling choice. Arguments concerning sharpness, autofocus, stabilisation and minimum focusing distance and other factors can be discussed as well.

Hello all,
here you are a burst of shots (taken with my R10 & RF100-400mm).
According to you, why most are so bad in original size ?! :-( (lack of contrast, bad focus whereas AF zone seems well positioned, no sharpness)
Only the last one seems correct...
Thanks for your advices

Hello! So I'm going to be getting an R7 soon for bird photography. I've been looking over my lens options and I'm choosing between the Sigma 150-600 C and the RF 100-400. The RF 100-400 seems like a great lens for the price especially at only $500 right now. The only thing I'm concerned about is its shorter focal length. I believe on the R7 crop body I would get around 640mm which should be fine for most birds, but I like taking photos of smaller birds like sparrows and warblers. For any of...

I know there are a lot of birders on this forum. I can recognize hawks, eagles, owls, ducks, geese, swans, and.... well, that's about it really. Lots of smaller birds look pretty much the same to me. We heard some commotion in our front yard this morning, and when we looked out it looked like a couple of birds were having a bit of a barney. One looked like a blue jay (at least, that's what my wife said). As I was grabbing my R7 with RF 100-400, both birds flew off, but one of them flew into...

Going to a Texas Rangers game next month. I’ll be in a suite but there will be an art exhibit with my work also. Was thinking of taking my RF 24-105 and RF 100-400 with extender 1.4x. Other choices in the quiver are RF 14-35/4 and 16/2,8. I’ve been eyeing the 800/11 for a Yellowstonetrip in the fall but I could move up it’s acquisition. Tips? Thoughts?
Other issue is that the bags I can take Are very limited. Think just a small no divider bag. I do have a basket on my wheel chair as well.

I have the RF 100-400 and will eventually need/want more reach without breaking the bank. Which would be a better option: the 100-400+1.4 (100-400+2) versus the 600/11 (800/11)?
in searching I found a similar thread for the RF 100-500 that seemed to lean toward the teleconverter.

Got my R6 today and tried to get it set up. First with the 24-105l and this one with the RF100-400, the AF just isn’t finding these birds. What am I doing wrong?
It kept locking on the fence. Earlier when I was using the shorter lens, it kept locking on a lawn chair in the corner.

Hi everyone,
I'm just getting back into photography after a hiatus of several years. Ordered a new Canon RP because it fits my budget and seems like it should be a huge updrade from the Rebel T1i that I've had since 2009ish.
One of the main things that I'd like to do with this camera is take it with me to an Ultimate frisbee tournament in June and try to get some nice shots of the action on the field.
I have a cobbled together collection of primes and wide-mid range zooms that I've collected...

Hi Guys,
Please, does anyone know any tripod collar that is compatible with the new Canon RF 100-400?
Many thanks
