Hello All, Posting on DPR after a long time. Until few months back, my setup was, 1. Canon 60D + EFS 15-85 for general photography 2. Canon 60D + EF 100-400 MKII for Birding and Wildlife photography 3. Canon 40mm Few months back, upgraded my body to 5DMKIV as I was finding limitations for wildlife photography and now happy with 5DMKIV + 100-400MKII. Planning for a general purpose lens with focus on portraits, and so considering Canon 50mm F1.4. Since this lens has been long due for...

Hey guys! I have quite the dilemma right now. I currently shoot on a canon 6d with the 85mm f/1.8 usm and 40mm f/2.8. Asside from this I have a gh4. As a college student I realized that I dont shoot video as much so I've decided to sell my gh4 leaving me with roughly 700-800 dollars to use.  Up until now, I was planning on selling the 40mm f/2.8 and using that money (along with the 700-800 from the gh4) I was planning on getting the tamron 15-30mm f/2.8.  As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of...

Hey Guys!  I am not a beginner in photography as a whole, but what I can tell you is that I 100% have never shot a concert in my life, but I would like to ask if anyone can give me their best advice to shooting a concert. What I can tell you is what im bringing with me and what I know: Im bringing my Canon T5 with a 40mm and 24mm both f/2.8  - Yes I know its not the best gear but I will work with what I have - And I also know how to shoot in Manual mode but not Aperture Priority  --Sebastian...

Hi All, I am interested in either the 35mm or 40mm lens off of kijiji site. I noticed there are a lot of 40mm lenses and they are MUCH cheaper than their current retail price. I'm concerned about the quality of these 40mm lenses. The used 35mm lens seems to be a much older lens but they are priced almost double the 40mm used. Which one would you go for? I have a Canon 6D. Not looking to do portraits. Interested in getting into video and for traveling (light). thoughts?

Hi, I just got a second hand EF40mm/2.8. It did not take me long to notice that the camera every once in a while would freeze when touching the lens. This is a known problem that can be fixed using a firmware upgrade if you have a 5D3 or 1DX according to Canon website. Since I do not have easy access to either of these, is it possible with the 7D2 as well to upgrade lens firmware? (I don't have that one either, but my neighbour does). Thanks! --David.

Hi folks, I'm looking for a new prime lens for my Canon EOS 70D with the following three characteristics: Standard 50mm-equivalent focal length (that is to say, something in the range 28mm - 35mm) Large aperture (f/2 and above, though I may consider f/2.8 if necessary) Low budget ($600 max) I'm not a professional and my typical shooting situations are very generic: Indoor, low-light portraits / footage Outdoor natural landscapes To these, I would like to add some very rudimentary...

Hi all, I dropped my STM lens (stupid I know) and now the autofocus is hard to t turn. I noticed that the metal ring below it (silver ring in this picture) is slightly bent - can I pop off the focusing ring and bend the silver part back into shape?

Hello all, new to the forums. I've been a camera enthusiast for a few years now, taking photos as much as I can with my T2i with 18-55 kit lens. I recently bought a Canon EF 40MM "Pancake", though when putting the lens on, it seems to be quite tight in turning to click in with the camera body. Is this a known issue for the 40mm, or is there something wrong with the camera or lens? Any suggestions? Many thanks, JC

Dear all, I recently purchased a 40mm EF lens f/2.8 stm. To my surprise when I mount it on my canon 350D, the light metering seams to be all off. In automatic setting It takes pictures that are very over exposed. It also insists on using the flash when it's not necessary. I can make a good picture when I adjust shutter speed myself (Tv), but I would like to use the automatic settings (the green rectangle). This is now impossible because it over exposes everything Is this a known issue? Is...

Friends, I need your inputs and opinion again. I'm mainly into Nature and Wildlife photography (Specifically Bird photography) and my current setup is a Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF-s 15-85 and Canon EF 40mm. Would be picking a Canon EF 100-400 Mk2 shortly. Had finalized on Sirui P-424 monopod with L-10 Tilt head and was about to place an order, and then thought if I just go only with a Monopod what about Nature/Landscape or Cityscape or Night photography which comprises of about 40%....So, I'm...
