I've had several of these over the years as I always end up buying another one after a while! Let me tell you why I like them so much: OK, so it isn't an L lens. It's not big, heavy or expensive - and it isn't an amazing optical performer wide-open, particularly at short and medium focal lengths. It doesn't have IS. But, guess what? I didn't even know this lens existed until I started looking for a smaller, lighter walk around lens for my 5D Mark III to add to my 24-70mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses. Options obviously were the 24-105mm f/4 and 24-105mm STM lenses. But in looking up reviews I ran across mentions of this lens. There are at least 4 versions of the lens, not all obvious. I had this lens to compliment my L telephoto at one time. I got it second hand but still of good quality. The lens is quite light and does produce decent images. At its widest apertures, its a bit soft but set it at f8-f10 and you got a great lens for studio shoots (it's that sharp). I had a bit of regret selling the lens since I bought a 24-70... now I'm thinking of trying to find one again to use as a walk around lens. Problems: 1. A bit soft on its widest aperture (f3.5 - f4.5) 2. No IS
