Hi there. I recently bought a second hand Canon SX740 HS that I want to use as a cost effective vlogging camera with OBS Studio for live streaming. The most important feature is the video aspect of it, not so much the still photography. I'm using it with a video capture card, but for some reason I can't get rid of the the AF frame when the camera is set to the video function. I tried switching between the normal AF and AF tracking, but AF tracking still shows a frame following a persons face...

Recently I found a need for a pocketable long-zoom, for two reasons: Stealth. I'll save 100 words here as you might already know what I'm going to say. Portability. If I'm just going to idle in a park for a while and not on a serious birdwatching mission, I might want a light and compact camera. I've studied Nikon A1000 and Canon SX720/730/740 HS. They all have a thickness no more than 4cm, and the Canon ones have the longest zoom within the 4cm thickness: 960mm. The SX720 HS is the...

Is there any way that can make Canon SX740 camera compatible to the Canon remote control BR-E1? Both are Wi-Fi enable. Why is there no pairing?

Freshly arrived by mail this morning, our brand new Canon SX740HS. We're off on holiday tomorrow so actually having it in our hands today is wonderful . . . . . Except: it isn't. Neither my wife nor I can hold this camera safely and securely without the wrist strap. . . and neither my wife nor I can attach the wrist strap: it eems to be the most obstructive and badly designed facility either of us have ever encountered on any camera, from any manufacturer. The user manual is glib to the point...

I recently bought the canon sx740 and took it on vacation. Some of the pictures look great, but some of them look pixellated and low quality. Is this normal for this camera? Is There a way to increase the reliability of the quality? I use Auto mode generally I will attach a photo to show the lower quality. Thanks for your time.

I am not familiar with cameras bare with me. Im giving my teen daughter her first vlog camera. She will use this when she travels out of country with her best friend. She will be doing a lot of walking, shopping and eating that she will be recording and taking pics. I know there are selfie stick for cell phones. But I want something better that is specifically made for cameras (point and shoot type) something stronger but not too bulky or too long. can anyone recommend please?  Thanks in...

My wife and I each got an SX740 before a trip to VietNam last November. After about 2,000 pictures I dropped mine causing little damage and it continued to work another 4,000 pictures. Then early this year in Costa Rica (and another 1,000 + pictures) my 740 suddenly developed a problem: the view screen was only on the top half of the screen with white on the bottom half, the camera wouldn’t take a picture, and when turned off the lens would only retract half way (and had to be pushed in with...

Hi,  Trying to pick a new camera is worse than buying a new car, lol, anyway I believe I've narrowed it down to either the Canon sx740 hs or the Nikon B700, which one would be the better choice please !? Thank you !

Hi all, Would need some help from the gurus here! I have owned the Canon SX740HS for about a month and I would say, it shoots relatively clear and beautiful pictures as a compact super zoom camera. I use it for concerts mostly and the pictures turn out great. However, my only problem is that while I was trying to film videos, the subject of focus may become blurred. I tried zooming out and in again, but it didn't really help much. Neither would pressing halfway on the shutter button help to...

What is the Canon PowerShot SX740 video time limit at 4K video recording? Please only actual owners of this camera!!! I currently own: Panaxonic zs60 - 4K video limit is 15 min (the recording stops at this point) Nikon A900 - 4k Video limit is 7 min (the recording stops at this point) I am looking to buy a still (not camcorder!) camera with at least 30 min 4K video length limit... any suggestions? Thanks!
