So my canon powershot sx720hs lens has recently started not to work... The thing behind the lense is meant to move when I zoom in but is just stuck there. The camera still works but I got no zoom. Is there a way to fix this.  (btw, can't go to a camera shop since there isn't any near me) Camera lense

Recently I found a need for a pocketable long-zoom, for two reasons: Stealth. I'll save 100 words here as you might already know what I'm going to say. Portability. If I'm just going to idle in a park for a while and not on a serious birdwatching mission, I might want a light and compact camera. I've studied Nikon A1000 and Canon SX720/730/740 HS. They all have a thickness no more than 4cm, and the Canon ones have the longest zoom within the 4cm thickness: 960mm. The SX720 HS is the...

Just got a used P610, did very quick tests, and I notice that stabilization does work, but it is not mindblowing, even fairly high shutter speeds like 1/250 you still need to be careful at 60x zoom. Is that typical? I briefly tried a SX720 and while I wasn't overly impressed with that camera, the IS was impressive for a camera of such a form factor.

Is there any way at all to use a microphone with Canon SX720 HS? I sometimes make review videos or record videos of family/friend gatherings, and I would love to have the ability to use an external mic with this camera. Anything?

I feel angry with myself, but I can't turn the clock back. Managed to knock my small fixed-lens camera off a coffee table onto a wooden floor. It's a Canon SX720. It seems to have survived fine but I wondered what checks I might be able to do to reassure myself that the optics haven't been compromised. I'm guessing taking a picture of a flat plane at a small aperture and checking focus edge-to-edge?? Thanks.

Hoping to buy a new camera for a vacation I am taking in December. My last camera purchase was 2004. Been looking at the Sony DSC-hx80 but saw a very good price on a Canon Powershot SX720 HS($250). Do you recommend the SX720?

I've used the Canon S100 for 4-5 yrs. and been overall happy with it.  Lens will suddenly not retract (common defect) and it's time for an upgrade. I'm a Senior, love photography, but don't want real complicated, sophisticated cam.  Rarely take selfies, don't need: flip LED screen, Xtreme zoom, wi-fi for instant posting or D/L.  Love macro.  Lately taking more pics of family and friends, indoor and out.  I do use SOME simpler post-production editing (brighten indoor pics, re-touch, crop,...

Hi, Just a quick question regarding how sensor resolution affects digital zoom. Im using Canon SX720, and the camera has options to choose between sensor resolution of 20MP, 10MP and 3MP. If Im planning to use digital zoom, is it better to use max sensor resolution 20MP, or a lower resolution like 10MP or even 3MP to get clearer picture? My understanding of digital zoom is that the camera crops out the photo and upscales it to fit the resolution selected, therefore if you select a lower...

How do you like it?  How are the images?  How high a ISO can you shoot and still get good images.  Is it too small to track a bird in flight? Thanks for any help. Erroll
