Hi, So I’m looking to get a new Canon camera that’s good for night photos and night HD video. I don’t need all the bells and whistles of a camera as I am a novice in photography and just need it for taking good shots. Of course I want it to be high quality in daytime as well, not just at night or darkness. My friend currently has the Canon PowerShot SX700 and I am taking a look at that. Anyone know if it’s any good for night photos and videos? He couldn’t give me a definitive answer as he...

When my Powershot 70 was lost in Turkey last week, I bought an SX 700, which seems fine. But I want to transfer some of my favorite photos (which had been on the lost memory card, but always on the computer) to the SX 700 camera, and have a problem With my memory card in a card-reader, I can copy all the Img pictures to the memory card, and they can be read on the Canon 700. For some unknown reason, though I have used Canon 90 almost exclusively, almost all the pictures on my computer (the...

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum so hoping I am doing this right. My son bought me the Canon SX700HS for my Xmas, over the moon was an understatement !! I bought, to be fair, a rather cheap 64 gig SD card to try out, after taking about 1500 pics and going to review the last few I had taken on the view finder itself, I saw a box with a yellow question mark saying "Unidentified Image" hmmmm wasn't impressed as I was taking shots of a buzzard in flight !!!  I thought, ok, cheap SD card, but...

I'm looking to buy a new camera. My budget is $300 max. (used ok).  I will mostly use it for birding, travel, outdoor scenery and baseball games.  I am mostly concerned about zoom and image quality.  I will not be doing much, if any photo editing...just want to point and shoot.  I have a small Kodak that I use indoors for family events, etc... I do have it narrowed down to a handful, but will take other suggestions if you have them.  What would be the best one for my use?   Thank you for the...

Hello, I posted this question at the Canon forum, but as I expected no one has replied. I would like to know whether the Canon SX700 HS allows to embed the date/time code into the video. That the camera my son have bought and he can't find any information in the user's manual. Some cameras/camcorders allow to display such date/time information for a limited time (for the first 6 seconds for example) at the first clip taken in a new day. So, is something like this possible to set at SX700?...

Hello,    Can you please tell me whether SX700 allows you to embed the date/time code into the video? Some cameras/camcorders allow then to display such date/time information for a limited time (6 seconds) at the first clip taken in a new day. So, is something like this possible to set at SX700? Thank you in advance for your reply. Regards, Peter

Hi, I'm looking to buy a compact travel camera. I doubt between the sx700 and the sx710. I looked on the internet to find the differences. But I couldn't find the correct/complete list. I know about 2 differences: sensor (16MP <> 20MP) video mode 24p added Are there more? On some sites I found that the sx700 has no smartphone remote control and no AF active tracking? I would go for the sx700 because it's cheaper and I expect better picture quality (only 16MP on a 1/2.3" sensor). Except if...

So I bought the SX700 before the SX710 came out, but I'm having a horrible time with it...and this is after exchanging it...twice.   The first one had a scratched up lens body, so that one went back before I even powered it on; the second one had dust inside the lens, which was the product with my SX260, but I shot with it a little bit to test it, and after a bit, I noticed some of the colors were off, no matter how I adjusted the exposure, the shutter speed, the white balance, anything....

Hi, So there's a piece of dust that managed to get inside the lens of my trusty SX260 - isn't that the most annoying thing on earth?  I had my original one from October 2012 until June 2013 when I was at a wedding and someone was taking a picture of me a the rehearsal dinner and dropped it on the stone patio...and my jaw dropped with it.  I had to run to Target that night and get an SX280, which I didn't love, especially after reading all the reviews on it.  Target said I could return it no...
