Hi all, I recently moved up from a Canon Powershot sx520 hs to the Panasonic FZ80. Most of my shooting is of insects, both day and night. The night shots are of moths under street lights, porch lights, etc, and when I'm home a setup of incandescent floodlights. The camera's built in flash is usually also used except in a few cases in the latter category. My usual approach is to get a telephoto shot that will identify to species as soon as possible, then coming closer using less telephoto to...

I have a 10D, I bought it new when they first came out. So I bought an SX520, which I'm real happy with. Apparently it's not a very good camera because DPReview won't even do a review on it, but I'm asking if anybody here has one and what they think of theirs. My brother-in-law is a Nikon man and my sister has a SX500 which he uses for movies. He prefers that over his Nikon. --Taking pictures is easy, making them art is hard. After importing a G3X lens hood and filter adapter, I attached the adapter to the lens and the hood to the adapter.  Worked fine, so I reversed the hood into the storage position, no problem.  Next I tried to remove the reversed lens hood; big problem.  Only comes off with the adapter ring and impossible to separate the two whether on or off the camera.  Anyone had this problem and how did you solve it?  Pressing the release catch does nothing and it seems like the hood must only fit on the...

Hello everyone, I am looking for a point and shoot super-zoom camera of at least 30X under 300$ CAD (Canadian). It has been a week of research and looking for good deals. I found some deals but now I can't make up my mind. Here are the models I am looking at, please tell me which would be your top choice (s) and why: 1) My 2 top choices (I think) for no paticular reason: Nikon COOLPIX P530 @ 199$ CAD Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70 (FZ72) @ 299$ CAD 2) Other good choices: Nikon COOLPIX L340 @ 180$...

I have a canon sx520 camera. I have tried multiple settings, turn the flash off but yet my pictures always seem to have a grey background. I'm trying to take pictures of products without having to edit each one in photoshop. I have two 100 Watt photography lights, softbox, tripod, photography soft lights. I have tried it without a softbox and still my pictures have a grey background. Do I need an extra light, maybe a flash. This is my first camera and really want to put it to good use. How do...

I am going on a trip a little later this year and I was wondering which camera to take with me. I have both the 520 and the 510. I'm going to be at a place that I know I will be taking tons of photos and probably want to post some for my family to see on social media. The 520 is slightly better, but the 510 has wifi and I thought that could possibly be a good feature to have to post photos I take on my trip a little more easily. BUT - I've never used it outside of my home, though, so I don't...

Hello, I just bought this SX520 last weekend because my Nikon D80 broke and I needed SOMETHING to take a few pictures of my kid's birthday party.  I noticed that many of the photos seemed as if they were shot with a low quality setting like a cheap cellphone camera or something.  I messed around in the camera's menu settings but didn't see any options for changing the picture quality.  Does anyone know how to take sharper, better quality photos with this thing?  Please help.

Hello everyone. I am very new here so I'm sorry if I am posting in the "wrong area".....My loving husband gave me a Cannon PowerShot SX520 HS for my birthday and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!I love photography and am always looking to get the best picture from even the furthest of shots. What I love about photography is that you have the choice between a sleek, simple camera or a beefy, 4 foot long telephoto lens to view the world in. I have been reading around and everyone so far says that the Bower...
