I have never met such a fragile electronic device! I bought one of these cameras about 3 weeks ago (actually it was bought for me by my family who all clubbed together to buy it as a 40th Birthday present). I found it easy to use and very compact. It also took pretty good pictures - although there were a number of niggles with these. I had heard comments that it was a dangerously fragile camera and best to be avoided, but I saw more comments about how it was made of metal rather than plastic ...

I bought this camera just before I went overseas and found it relatively cost effective (once you factor in the tax back at the airport) and v easy to use. Being primarily a point and shoot user, I'm not particularly adept at using manual features of any camera, but after flicking through the user guide I was quite impressed at how easy it was to set up some of these manual features and the difference in the quality of the results was most definitely apparent. It's funny I feel quite the ...

I have this camera as my third digital Camera and bought it actually from what I have read on this Dpreview homepage because so many people talked good about it. I think it is a very good construction but a little heavy. However, I think focusing and sharpness is very poor on this camera. Peoples faces come out unsharp, blurred and hair is very undefined. Only a very few pictures come out sharp and good. And I have also tried using a tripod. In this case actually I wonder why people in ...

No joy . . . My ratings are compared to full sized prosumer models, because that’s all I’ve had previous experience with. This may be long because I’ve spent a lot of trying to make peace with this camera. In summary, as my ratings show, I’m not happy with it. My experience closely matches Geoff Hardy and ErikStenbakken's review of the SD800 could have been mine of this camera. Particularly this part: =================== "I can STILL shoot sharper with the non-IS [a larger camera] than with ...

I really wanted to love this camera. It is a nice size, has image stabilization, a big LCD and had very good reviews. Now I just wish that I had never bought it. Problems: Within a couple of months this camera had to be repaired twice. There have been a number of problems: 1. The screen is very fragile and cracks/scratches/smudges very easily 2. After the first repair, I got a lens error message and had to get the optical unit replaced 3. The image quality is very poor - I was very ...

I recently purchased the camera. I took plenty of pictures but am not sure how to download them on the computer. I am currently traveling and left the CD with the Canon software at home. Is the software on the Canon website the same as that on the CD? Please help. Thanks.

Great camera , great photos in day light , good photos in low light , specially if IS is on (it still works even with Exp. time 1sec! It doesn't like brute movements, otherwise it works better than i expected). Noise at High ISO starts to be visible at 400, but most of the pictures are still usable , and if you use a good Noise reduction program you can still come out with some good large-mid print! ISO 800 is just for emergency and small prints to me (ie 4x6). Yea more manual control could ...

Yes, the 700 is a great little camera. You can read most of the other reviews and get the story on this premium point and shoot. Here are a few comments on the pros and cons though. The two part instruction book is not a photographers user’s guide – It shows the feature and you guess when to use it and why. It is made for a novice to say, “it has all these features, but I only use the Auto point and shoot and it takes great pictures”. Why the instructions are in two parts is anyone’s guess. ...
