I'm thinking about a replacement for my Camon S90 and thought that the RX100 might be a logical choice but the one caveat is the JPEG output. The S90, set to vivid color, renders just what I like in an OOC image. Opinions about the JPEG output of the RX100 seems to vary considerably  and what I'm looking for is input from those who have experience with both Canon and the RX100. I'm not very adept at selling used cameras and I'd prefer not to have to do that with something as pricey as the RX100.

So I'm moving up from my Canon S and these are my two choices; I'll consider something with a viewfinder for my next upgrade. I've read a bunch of reviews and both of these cameras are reported to be quite good, but considering I'll at some point get a nice small prime lens I want to get the right camera before investing in the lens ecosystem. It doesn't bother me that the NX is an older camera or that the X-M1 is only $150 or so more because I like the way both of these look, are priced. I...

I'm considering replacing my venerable s90 (which replaced an SD880) with the Sony RX 100. What I like about the RX100 is the reputed OOF rendition and the very solid build quality. What I like most about the S90 is the JPEG quality (I prefer not to trouble myself with RAW) and the relatively simple UI. Buying a bargain priced S110 would seem a logical progression but I don't care about a touch screen or wifi and would probably not use the wide angle 24. I like to keep things as simple as I...

I do want the Sony but I do not need it until next Summer so no RX100 II either,,,, hoping for a newer model with popup viewfinder or other goodies,,,, so in the meantime, I either use my Panasonic RZ35, or older Canon SD800is... OR should I get a Canon S90 - 110 used ?? I guess I think of those as interim cameras, bit I might love one and just keep using it... Any suggestion which model is enough of an upgrade for me ?? Just weekend or fun photography,,, light travel perhaps,, Thank you !!!!

Hi Guys, I just had my Canon S90 converted to 590nm infrared. Here are a couple of the first images from it, with very little processing past swapping the red & blue channels. It doesn't look quite right to me, any suggestions on what I should be doing to get that beautiful "Goldie" effect, with pale yellow foliage & blue skies? The images are also not very sharp & seem somewhat noisy. The camera was capable of far better results in the visible light spectrum. Is this typical of image quality...

Please forgive the long winded intro but I'm stuck with a new camera itch and need some feedback before I squeeze the trigger. I've been hearing great things about the RX100 and was ready to pull the trigger on the RX100M2. I wanted to reach out to the forum and see if anyone had any last minute thoughts on my situation. Here goes: I grew up taking lots of pictures and took photography classes all through jr. high and high school. I've always enjoyed taking good pictures. For this reason, I...

Hi, I recently bought an Olympus E-PL3 which I quite like in terms of portability and quality of pictures, at least in lower ISOs. I also bought a Sigma 19mm 2.8 lens for m43 which I really like as it is a very sharp lens. I 'e started using this combination for night street photography but then I noticed that in P mode the camera at 2.8 would choose a speed of 1/80s and ISO between 6400 and 8000  admittedly with a poorly lit scene .I also shot the same scene with a Canon S90 which chose a...

When I put the mode dial under A and S, and turn the command dial I don't see the f-stop or shutter changing numbers changing.  And in moderate lighting in my home.  is there some sort of auto lock or am I missing something. When I use these modes on my Oympus point and shoot camera this works fine. Thanks for help.

Hello again, I have been tied up and have not purchased a good used camara as yet. I post things on the net for sale once in awhile a need to replace my old Sony DSCS-30 that I have been using for many years. I have a small studio with ok lighting set up in the basement that I have been using and it does ok. I photo anything from items 3/4" long to some that are over 4' long. I am looking for very clear photos in a digital, automatic type camara.  I do shoot quite a bit of macro photos...
