I wanted a shirt pocket take everywhere camera and this is the best one I could find at a reasonable price, $200 at Costco. It meets my needs for photos and the video is surprisingly good. Macro is very good. It doesn't have a lot of manual controls but for that I will use my Canon G12 or Nikon P7000, or for more serious photography, my Nikon D300. Canon ELPH 310 HS (IXUS 230 HS)
For its price and size, this camera has a lot to offer. This camera has the same sensor as several other Canon point-and-shoots released in Q3 of 2011. It is the cheapest and smallest with this sensor. Its extreme compactness combined with 8X optical zoom and fast handling (for a point-and-shoot) make this a winner for me.
