I truly want to love this camera, and in some ways it's exactly what I wanted, but I'm still within the return window and still waffling- here's why... Background: Semi-pro photographer, several DSLRs, desperately seeking "purse-cam" for work commute when I have no secure place to store larger gear. Over the past several years I've bought (and then sold or returned) several four-thirds cameras & large-sensor compacts. My priorities, roughly in order of importance, are: #1 image quality (of ...

This is a WONDERFUL little camera.  Here are a few pluses: 1 -- Truly pocket size.  Unlike the Sony RX100 series, which is significantly bulkier, the G9X slips in and out of pockets easily. 2 -- Truly small and unobtrusive.  Most other compacts are actually pretty sizeable, and kind of obvious to wield.  The G9X looks about like a cell phone, and doesn't get noticed in a group or crowd.  Bigger cameras draw unwanted attention.  The G9X is great for casual, candid shots of people for this reason.

Got my G9X in a good price (US$320), replace my travel camera: RX100 1st gen & WX350.  G9X is small & light like my WX350, and the performance is better then my RX100v1.   at this price, I have nothing to complain. At first, my choice is Panasonic TZ100, I think 10x travel zoom is useful for me,, but G9X only half price....

Just picked this up and so far it appears to be a great little camera. It is very pocketable and easy to use. Setup in just a few minutes. Control ring on the lens makes it easy to make changes on the fly. As I only have taken a few pictures so far will post more later after So far I like it, the detailed scoring is a little low because I have not shot enough pictures yet/ David Hayner Britepixels.com

Canon isn't supporting the current Mac operating system for this camera! Though the box and specs say that it is "wifi" certified and supports Mac and PC, that is incorrect. Here is a email from Ronald, a technical support representative at Canon: I regret to inform you at this time the Canon software isn't available for Mac OS X 10.11 ImageBrowser EX, PhotoStitch, and Movie Edit Task applications will not be supported in Mac OS 10.11 and later. Development of those applications is considered ...

First, this camera is not the best choice if it will be your only camera.  Everyone has a cellphone these days, and the photos they take are excellent in most cases.  There are even apps that allow you to manually control your cellphone's shutter speed and ISO.  So for many of us, the cellphone is our go-to device for casual photos here and there. But the G9X is far more capable than any cellphone and can get photos in many diffrerent situations that a camera phone won't.  Plus, the larger ...

While I like the G7X better overall for its control layout, the G9X is a great camera for the price and an excellent upgrade option for people using the Powershot S120. IMAGE QUALITY: I find nothing to complain about regarding lens sharpness, detail capture, or ISO performance on this camera. It does those very well, about as good as the G7X in all areas. One minor issue about the image quality though, I find the Auto White Balance produces results that are too warm in daylight conditions. ...
