The camera takes good quality pictures. It is easy to use. The chip is excellent and does well in difficult lighting conditions. The features are just right for my use of the camera. Problems: Within a week of using the camera the lens cover would not open when the lens extended after turning on the camera. I got a great price on this camera, about $175. My first impression was that it was just one cheap piece of plastic. I did take a few pictures which came out excellent. The software from Canon is excellent as well. My mistake was to not send it back immediately. Now, less than 2 months old and only 250 pictures taken, the automatic lens cap will not open all of the way! Canon offered to fix it, but this is a new camera and they should replace it or let me upgrade to a decent quality ...

With the Canon A85 too bulky and the super-sexy Ixus lacking in manual control, I've been awaiting developments before going digital. I use a Nikon D70 at work and so am accustomed to certain standards. With first use I'm not disappointed. Colour definition is sharp and possibly more accurate than the Nikon!
