I purchased this camera in addition to an SLR. Mostly for my wife to take pictures of our new baby. She has been using it in P and Auto mode and the images are excellent. Low light capability of this camera is not very good, images are relatively noisy but only 1 or two cameras can do well in low light. Camera also has a decent movie mode. I convert movies to divx using virtualdub and them we can watch them on the dvd player. Camera also records and plays sound. Build quality is a bit ...

I got a great price on this camera, about $175. My first impression was that it was just one cheap piece of plastic. I did take a few pictures which came out excellent. The software from Canon is excellent as well. My mistake was to not send it back immediately. Now, less than 2 months old and only 250 pictures taken, the automatic lens cap will not open all of the way! Canon offered to fix it, but this is a new camera and they should replace it or let me upgrade to a decent quality ...

Simple and effective camera. Pictures are consistent, with good clarity. I suggest using the highest resolution. Response time is quick. Ability to make a lot of adjustments (aperature, shutter speed, ISO, etc.) is useful. Battery life is amazing. I bought two Panasonic 2300mAh NiMh AA batteries and tried to see how many shots I would get. Using a mix of modes, flash on/off, power up/down, etc. (but display always on), I took well over 2000 shots. I had to erase my 512MB SD card a ...

I bought this camera for just over £100. It has been superceded by later Powershots, hence the bargain price. I've always liked Canons and this one is no exception. There are plenty of user modes offering full manual control although most of the time the Auto/Program modes deliver the goods with sharp, correctly exposed and colourful images. Comes with excellent software package, especially the remote capture facility. Recommended. Problems: Battery-life is good although the camera doesn't ...

This is my first digital camera after researching for a long time I finaly settled on the A520 and I'm verry happy that I did for the price I payed it was well worth it. I was amazed of all the feature that this camera got much more then my old Pentax SLR. At first I was owerwhelmed with the access path thru the menue for the more advanced features, but once I got in to the habit of taking the owners manual in the fields and just play with it ,it was no time before I got the hang of it.I ...

i've only had this camera for 2 weeks, but it is a great little camera. the pictures are great and a ton of features. it does the basic well, point and shoot. battery life is good. it's burst shooting mode is good with the flash off. reading the manual helps understanding all this little camera can do. i had read some not so impressive reviews but i don't know what their problem was. i recommend this camera. Problems: none.

I bought this camera primarily for my wife, who only wants a point-and-shoot camera that fits in her pocket. It does that job well, although shutter lag can be lengthy, especially when using flash. She also complained about red-eye, which even the red-eye reduction setting didn't seem to help. And, with just a short lesson, she can now upload images to the computer, edit them, & send to our photo host site for prints. Problems: 1. You must have extra batteries with you at all times, as ...

Pros in a nutshell: Strong image quality even in "auto" mode. 4x zoom lens. Lots of manual controls. Zoom-linked flash. Small with good ergonomics - also very light. Great battery life. (though see below) Excellent resolution for a 4 MP chip. Very easy to get to know - a great first camera for someone new to digital that needs an all-purpose digital camera. Unbelieveably great value. Highly recommended. Problems: Cons: Extremely slow flash recycle time. Very noisy at ISO 400 - unusable. (A ...
