Hi there, I have an iCloud Photos Library of 9000 images and have discovered that MacOS Photos is corrupts the images. Replacing parts of the image with large (put 100% of image) solid blocks of colour (Normally black or green). It typically happens with RAW images off of a Canon 60D but strangely hasn't occurred with images from my iPhone X - this may be coincidental or a potential symptom of the cause. There is a temporary workaround of rotating, pausing for the thumbnail to update and...
Hi everyone, I started to get into photography around 2009 as an amateur/hobbyist and managed to learn a bit from all of you at dpreview during the next several years. Fast forward almost ten years and a kid/real job later and I am a bit rusty and very out-of-date again. I am hoping you can all help get me back up and running soon with my Nikon D5000 and iPhones 6 and X. I also somehow am the most tech savvy of my immediate family and need some advice for some microsoft/android devotees. Like...
I've resisted away moving from Apple's Aperture because I have a lot of albums in Aperture, but it's time I switch. My preliminary research suggests Phase One's Capture One Pro and DXO's OpticsPro would be good choices, but I would like to learn more about people's experiences in the following areas: Which one can import Aperture albums most faithfully? Which one converts Olympus E-M1 raw files best, especially with respect to color rendition and removal of lens chromatic aberration? Which...
I used to print perfectly with my Canon Pixma Pro-100 from my Mac running OSX 10.11. Then I updated to 10.12 and also switched to using Precision Colors inks. Now every print has a purple cast to it. I figured it was a double profiling issue, but I have tried every setting I can think of with no luck. The only setting that prints without the purple cast is if I select "Plain Paper" from the Quality & Media print menu. Can anyone shed light on why that is the only option that removes the...

Hi fellow photographers.. I am looking for a cross section of opinions regarding solutions for rating photographs quickly before processing... I have been using Apple Photo's and Adobe Photoshop.. but they both want to import images first and the screens always cluttered... any thoughts or am I only one who has a hung up over importing etc...
Looking ahead to the end of Aperture, I am considering learning Capture 1. Because it has much of the functionality of Aperture, such as raw development, image enhancement, cataloguing and metadata recording, and various output options, it might be right for me. I have a problem with Lightroom, in that I do not enjoy its UI, its raw conversion camera profiles are limited and seem to produce drab results, and it has that subscription model along with a high cost for he standalone version....
I have been reading a lot about the OS X 10.10.3 update and the release of the Photos app, and I understand that Aperture is still usable after the upgrade, but nobody has mentioned whether or not I can still sync my Aperture photos to my iDevices via iTunes anymore. I plan to stick with Aperture until Photos matures a bit - but I don't want to upgrade the OS just yet if the Aperture iTunes sync no longer works. Anyone know? Thanks in advance for the answer.
