I'm long overdue to upgrade my NEX-6, and am finally taking the plunge and going full frame - most likely with the A7R III. I already have a couple FF lenses, but also find myself using the APS-C 35mm (53mm equiv.) f1.8 quite a bit, and often take advantage of it's ability to focus as close as 30 cm. I've been looking at 50mm full frame lens options, and nearly everything seems to have a 45 cm minimum focus distance. The only exceptions I've found so far are: Sigma 50m Art lens (not yet...

Okay, like it says in the title, a super basic question. As background: I've had an E-mount for 6 years (first a NEX-6,then an a6300), and I avoided using the on-camera flash because I prefer to shoot in available light as I hate the way direct flash pictures often look (though I have used the flash occasionally for bounces, with pleasing but unpredictable results.) I understand (maybe incorrectly) that TTL flash is somewhat akin to the "auto" mode of flashes - i.e., the camera does the work...

I'm thinking long term in upgrade paths to my small business. I've started doing small weddings and covering performing arts events and I've really been struggling to keep up with the lack of physical controls, and moreover af-speed of my aging NEX-6. Investment costs in this case are important. From a quick browse of trending prices, it seems I can get a used A7RII for approximately $1700. The trending price for a used a99 seems to be around $1000. In investment costs, this difference is...

Hi.  I've a few older Sigma lenses available and I own a NEX-6.  The lenses are a 50mm 1.4 DG HSM EX and a 85mm 1.4 DG HSM EX. It seems like they don't rely on screw drive and could work with the LA-EA1/3 adapters on the mirrorless cameras. Will they work on my camera and is it worth investing in the adapter? Thanks

I have an NEX-6 and I'm working a project that requires the date and time on the photos I'm taking.  I cannot figure out how to do it.  Does anyone know how I can display the date and time on my NEX-6 photos?   --Rob

Looking for some help: purchased a 16-70mm F4 Zeiss lens for my Nex6 (since upgraded to A6300) and while it's generally pretty good, there is some type of distortion on the edges, whereby vertical lines bend inwards.  Only really notice if, for example, there's a wall at the far left or right of the frame, it won't be vertical even if the horizon is perfect. I've tried the lens correction profile in Lightroom (which automatically recognises the lens correctly) but it doesn't seem to fix...

I have read all DPR reviews about the a57, a65 and a77Mk1. The a55 is also good but the a57 is better in everything so I don't consider it. GPS is nice but I have a separate logger. What strikes me is that all cameras get a gold reward but the reviewers seem most happy with the a57. 16MP is fine for me, I have both a99 and NEX-6 and really the difference is not that great. But the a57 get top remarks for low noise and fast AF. Also operation seems more snappy and the buffer is L-A-R-G-E and...

I'm trying to use the STG Uploader with my NEX-6. Got it loaded and it appears to be in the camera. But. Now I need to connect to my WiFi. Right? The thing is, my router[s] don't use that PIN method. I'm not clear how I would type a pin into a router anyway. I have WPA passwords of course. Is there a way to enter the password into the camera? Maybe a way to pass it in a file via the USB to the camera? Maybe I should set up an unprotected Guest WiFi network on my router. If there were no...

I have just bought a new Sony A7R II and wondering if I need a screen protector? I am a long time canon user and have never had a screen protector on any of my DSLR's and never had a problem but my family members have had NEX-5N and NEX-6 and both of their screen coatings have come off in pieces. So do I need one?  Do you use one? If yes can you recommend one? If no, how is your screen looking after x amount of time?

I start another question thread for the XF 10-24 to avoid cluttering up the XF 18-55 vs Sony 16-70 thread. Anyway, I definitely need an UWA. The XF 10-24 has been tested by e g Ken Rockwell and Imaging Resources with stellar results. It seems everything is great and there is no distortion. Only negative seems to be price. Now, the Nikon 10-24 also seems like a good choice. And the Sony 10-18 generally gets good reviews. Can anyone describe their experiences with either of these lenses? The...
