Frankly, I don't understand: When I shoot video with my mirrorless NEX-6 I am told the shutter stays open all the time. I am also told to set a shutter speed of double the fps for "that film look"? But if the shutter is open all the time, what effect does shutter speed have?

Hi, I'm looking for advice regarding the ideal lightweight low-priced autofocus medium zoom all-rounder OSS lens for my Nex-6. I recently purchased this b/only Nex-6 and initially bought no lenses, opting rather to use a number of full-frame Minolta lenses with adapters for both MD-mount and A-mount, and my conclusions are as follows: With my fixed-focus manual lenses I can obtain incredibly good results, as long as I keep a careful eye on exposure (obviously I'm using aperture priority),...

The NEX-6 jpeg engine produces pretty cr@ppy colours particularly the greens and reds where the reds look totally artificial. I can't say it is all the time but often enough.  So my question is, can I take the NEX-6 Raw files and produce the jpeg colours that canon or fuji or nikon produce for their jpegs in one click without fluffing around with the myriad of sliders in Raw converters?

Hello, I bought my NEX-6 several years ago and have had great use out of it. However, now I have a 2 year old son and I am looking for a lens that will be great for some blurred background pics of him. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Ideally, I prefer to use the manual settings when taking pics - although I could use more practice in getting the settings right. I also was hoping I could get some pics while keeping a little distance from my son - i.e. not right up in his face, in order to...

Has anyone experienced the following menu glitch with their NEX 6 or other NEX camera: After rotating the exposure mode dial to the SCN selection and selecting a scene mode (e.g., Sports Action), just before pressing the shutter button, the LCD display will switch from Live View back to the on-screen menu and the SCN mode selection view will stutter in rotating from Sports to Sunset to Macro, etc. almost as if I was rotating the larger-circumference control dial. It's like the LCD menu will...

I want a tablet to use with my Sony NEX-6; to copy photos to the tablet primarily. I like the look of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 but I have read old reports of connection problems. Is anyone using that combination? Do such problems still exist?

I've been shooting with the Nex-6 since early 2013, and feel that now is the time for a long-overdue upgrade. I'm at a crossroads, with the a6500 leading in one direction, the X-T2 in the other. By way of context, my photos are evenly divided between street, landscape, and architecture. With very few exceptions, I shoot with the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8. Handheld, often in low-light situations. Video capability is not a deciding factor. RAW over JPEG. a6500 Advantages IBIS - especially given my more...

I bought a Sony NEX-6 a few years ago and my wife and I love it! Recently it was dropped from a very short distance and now the built in pop up flash is not working but the camera still seems to be fine. We use the flash all the time by pulling it back and bouncing so we really need to get an external one that mounts to the camera. We mostly shoot in auto modes so something that works well with that is best. I saw the HVLF20M on Amazon but I was confused as to whether it needs an adapter to...

Once I figured out how to assign custom buttons, it's a delight to use the IBIS with my legacy Rokkor glass.  Only challenge I'm having with a6500 is re-learning button positions from my well-used NEX-6. Nice to be able to position the manual focus magnifier within the frame but bummer that the single-button access is no more. One must activate the focus magnifier and then engage it with another push of the center dial. Also, focus magnifier doesn't drop off when the shutter is slightly...

Hi, My Sony NEX6 accept regular sized SD-cards (SD/SDHC/SDXC). Now during Black Friday weekend I can find better much better deals on MicroSD cards (sold with adapter) than on standard sized SD cards (basically current generation MicroSD vs. previous generation SD), so I feel tempted to buy the MicroSD cards. Will I see any performance degradation if using an adapter? Or is adapter not recommended for digital cameras (for some reason)? Thanks!
