Hi everyone, I am looking for the specifications of Foveon X3F files. The only thing I was able to find is a document on an estonian site: http://www.stv.ee/~donq/sigma/d/x3f-raw-format.pdf However it is an old file and, for example, it doesn't describe properly the X3F written by the SD1 (which are version 3.00 while this document only describes 2.xx). While the main structure of the file looks similar between 2 and 3, the image RAW type of the SD1 is not described in this document. I used...
Hi all, Thinking of getting back into the Sigma world with a SDQ + 30mm 1.4. I used to love using the "blue channel trick" in SPP for SD1 and DP2M files, but I understand that is no longer available. Is the detail in ISO1600 or 3200 B&W shots still quite good? I'm having trouble finding an answer online.
It seems that the Merrill and Quattro based cameras have the native ability to capture a monochrome image in RAW format along with color image data. The SPP version for these sensors has a "monochrome" button that easily changes a color X3F file to mono, or readily converts a full spectrum or IR RAW file with the red cast. It appears that the SD15 does not have the native ability to capture a color X3F file and a monochrome X3F file at the same time. Choosing B&W through the in camera menu is...
Dear Sigma Users, Does someone of you is using older sigma lenses on the Sony E mount cameras? (i search and read everything about this on forum) I have two great and beloved lenses such 50 1.4 EX, 70-200 EX HSM with SA mount, still in perfect condition, and quite good 17-70. On the SD14 the AF works like it works. We all know AF was not a strong side of this camera. Just curious that is this lenses could be worked fine (or just acceptable? maybe with similiar fast like on SD14?) on Sony E...
I've saved my best Sigma lenses for a camera like the SD Quattro, but am also a bit of a geek as far as putting on old lenses with M42 mounts. Anybody tried one yet? The SD1 was a total failure with manual lenses, in my opinion. -John --https://firstname.lastname@example.orgDefinition: BOKEH - "Some things in life are clear, some things are not - Isn't that wonderful?"
So I'm going on trip where I expect to take a lot of pictures with my K-3ii. Normally, I capture JPEG in SD1 and RAW in SD2. I use the JPEG when I'm traveling but only download the RAW files when I get home. I have several high speed 16G and 32G SD cards, and one high speed 128 microSD card with adapter. For this trip, I'm thinking of putting my 32G SD card in SD1 and the 128G MicroSD in SD2. But wondering if a MicroSD card in an adapter works as well as a standard SD card? Using the...
Has anyone purchased, or know someone who has purchased, an SD1 on E-Bay listed as "New" but being exported from Japan , China, or Korea? Looks like they are targeting the U.S. market. They are being sold for around $1000.00 U.S. You don't get the Sigma warranty, but for about half price,...?? Not an issue for me. Are these factory seconds, new-old-stock, refurbs, junk to be avoided? Or did they just buy a bunch at a jobber price and we get good deals?
