I presently own a DSLR Pentax K5 with a 55-300 lens. It is getting to the projected end of it's life. Have a KR backup, but thinking of replacing that with a super zoom camera. My photography is mostly from kayak, bicycle, or hiking. Birds in flight and wildlife. Would I be sacrificing much clarity by going to one of these cameras and what would be recommended for my needs ( or not recommended ) FZ300 sounds appealing, but small sensor may eliminate it. BTW the Pentax suffers in the...
Hi! I love my Pentax and I sometimes use manual lenses with it. I have da problem about focusing. I use catch-in-focus and all settings are fine. I see camera always use center point to focus. When I shoot half-lenght portraits at f.2/8 eyes are out of focus. I tried to "focus and recompose technique" but I still have the same problem. In my opinion that's because the focus point is not the head (the eyes) but it's lower, so even if focus plane is in focus, focus point is not. Maybe I could...

I'want to to buy an old (in technology years) Pentax DSLR to use my old M42 50mm Super Takumar (it's from a Spotmatic, the very first camera I ever had). I only need one dial to control the shutter speed, as I'll control the aperture right from the lens. I was thinking something along the lines of the "old cheap reliable workhorse", maybe a Kr or Kx. Is there any limitation regardless metering, or something? I already have a high end Pentax, but I want the "new-old one" to be attached to the...
Hey guys! I've been looking through several forums and can't seem to find the parts # for the tiny tiny little screws that hold the silver mount on the Canon 70-200 (note: not interior or barrel/side screws, the one that holds the plate that mounts TO the cam bod). Anyone out there have any clue the size or parts #? Much appreciated, it's not an easy find even on the schematic from Canon, they don't seem to indicate the exact ones I'm referring to!Thanks for any/all leads!KR!STY
Hello, In the 270EX II Manual under "Setting the Flash Functions by Camera Operation" (p.14): [Flash Firing] (Enable/Disable) Set to [Disable] when you wish to use only the AF-assist beam I don't understand what this settings means. The flash fires even when i set it to "disable" Is there a way to disable the "stroboscope" effect of this flash? KR gewe BTW my sunpak RD2000 locks up with 5d IV

Hi. I have some questions because I would like to understand better how to evaluete exposure better. I know Sunny 16 rule but I could see that when I shoot on a daylight in a sunny day (I'm living in Sicily so I know that the rule can become SUNNY 22) under the shadow of a tree, using flash to fill-in something it doesn't add up. I have a Pentax K-r. I set the camera ISO 800 - F/5,6 OR F/7.1 - Shutter speed 1/125 or 1/180. Using Sunny 16 rule I should set the shutter speed as the reciprocal...
I really enjoy this setup, and have taken some nice shots for friends that earned me several bottles of wine. But I have really found trouble shooting moving people indoors. It's very hard to use tracking mode and pre-focus for me, as everything happens fast and movement is not always predictable. When using F2.0, the shallow depth of field makes it easy to take a shot of blurred face. Using smaller apertures, the higher ISO will make IQ go down (I can only accept IQ at 1600). Any...
