I have just downloaded and installed DCU 5.6.1. I usually develop my RAW photos with Lightroom, but from time to time I also use DCU. To my surprise, it seems that Ricoh-Pentax has apparently dropped PEF support, as I cannot open PEF files from my former *ist DS or K10D with this updated version of their software. Now I use DNG on my K-7 and K-S2 bodies, but even some PEF shots taken with the K-7 cannot be open with DCU 5.6.1 Has Ricoh dropped PEF support intentionally or is it a bug? Or...

I have the Pentax K-1 with which I am most pleased with the exception of the performance of the Image Synch app. I have read that the Live View function works only on certain iterations of the Android OS. I am rather ignorant on the various operating systems so any help on what version of the Android OS gives me full functionality on the Image Synch app would be appreciated. I have something about a version 5. I s that the same Lollipop 5? I'm in the dark. Help!
I am expecting my new to me K5 to arrive any day now. I have been coveting Pentax cameras from the time K7 came. I like a good pentaprism, IBIS and the Pentax cameras give more adjustability than I could imagine. But reading the manual I discovered that I can not use wireleslly the AF540FGZ in HSS mode with the built-in flash as commander. That is a disappointment because that is the way I am used to use external flashes. The manual says I must mount another AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ on the K5 to...
Hi all, I've been reading some interesting articles about finding stolen cameras including searching for images that contain the serial number of your camera or your name in the "photographer" fields of the EXIF or IPTC data. Using ACDSee I am not seeing any entry in the field for serial number for my Pentax K3 or K3 II. I downloaded PhotoME and that seems to agree that one of my raw DNG files does indeed not contain a serial number. Can this be right? I heard that the K7 does indeed record...
I have a k-3ii that I purchased new from B & W about six months ago. I have worked my way through Pentax digital cameras starting with the 1st DS, k10, k7, k5, k3 and now the k-3ii. I have NEVER had a problem like this before. I always kept my camera on auto focus, single shot, center spot, using the shutter button half push to gain focus. After reading some articles, I changed to back button (focus lock button), continuous focus, using the shutter button to only fire off the shot. That...
Hi, I'm a long time Pentax user (since film camera days). My first DSLR was the *istDS, and I've moved up through the K10, K20, and finally the K7 which I bought at B&H in May 2009. It's served me faithfully but I'm long overdue for an upgrade. Since 2009 my financial situation has gotten quite a bit worse, so I'm really trying to maximize camera for money spent. The first Pentax K3 looks to be pretty much exactly what I need for the best price. The price looks like it's dropped a bit (and...
At this moment I’m shooting with a Pentax K-7/K10, which are both fine camera’s but I need an upgrade. De K-7 has recently past de 150.000 clicks and the front-wheel doesn’t work that well anymore (sometimes it gives random values for apertures, very annoying). And the K10 only has a global af-tuning system so I can’t quickly change lenses. A logical upgrade for me would be a K-5II(s), K-3 of K-3II. But I have doubt about sticking with Pentax because I want a full-frame sensor and better...
