I have one of the early K5 models which I love but am thinking about an upgrade.  The things I am considering the upgrade for are to get an improved sensor with better higher iso performance (even though I am pretty happy with K5 to 3200 and have even got a few shots as high as 51200).  The other thing would be to get improved autofocus! Lastly should I be tempted to jump into the full frame club or stick to APS-C? I have sigma FF lenses at 24-70mm and 120-400mm as well as pentax 100mm macro...

My path with Pentax has been: K100D, great little camera but back then I didn't take this that serious, with primes and raw and post processing.  K5 - awesome, loved it, still have it, still works, kinda worn K3-II - similar to K5, needs to be taken to repairs KP - just bought and is great, takes awesome pics, but feels slightly downgrade-ish due to smaller battery and slightly weaker burst in RAW. LOVE the controls.   Will probably buy a K1 to see what FF is all about, but maybe there's a...

I presently own a DSLR Pentax K5 with a 55-300 lens. It is getting to the projected end of it's life. Have a KR backup, but thinking of replacing that with a super zoom camera.  My photography is mostly from kayak, bicycle, or hiking. Birds in flight and wildlife. Would I be sacrificing much clarity by going to one of these cameras and what would be recommended for my needs ( or not recommended ) FZ300 sounds appealing, but small sensor may eliminate it. BTW the Pentax suffers in the...

My sister has just bought a 55-300plm and has a K5 which from memory can't take advantage of the plm even with update. Is the KS2 the first to do so? --Regards Dean - Capturing CreationN.B. All my Images are Protected by Copyright

Dear fellow Pentaxians, the autofocus of my trustworthy K-5 recently stopped working (after close to 100k shutter actuations), so I can now use it only for manual lenses and need to find a successor. I am considering the K-70 as a replacement and was wondering if other forum users have taken that route and are so kind to share their experience. I did a bit of research, so read about the missing top display, the smaller battery, bit slower burst mode etc. which makes it a bit of a down-grade,...

Anybody have any experience with a lens auto focus motor failing? I'm not 100% sure that's the issue, but my beautiful 55mm 1.4 will not autofocus any more. I just wanted to check on the forum before I send it in to Precision. I checked the contacts not the lens and camera mounts - all looks good. It will not work on either my K5 or my K3. Any words of help or advice are greatly appreciated - Thanks Ken

Hi, I had my 2 K-5 Bodies for 6 and 2 years now. One body died a while ago. Now I could get a K-3ii Body for 625€, 3 month old, shutter count around 1500 clicks. Has anyone done this update. What are the major improvements? Is the K-3ii image quality really better? I have to confess that - after 33 years with Pentax cameras - I am seriously considering a change. Better AF, flash metering and 3rd party lens support are big advantages for C/N. Not to mention the prices for these lenses (compare...

Advice please. I’m requiring a FF or MF camera in the next month for hand-held, indoor light 400 - 800ASA product photography/sculptures and performance/live-action. Ideally I’d use extra lights, a flash, tripod, etc, but what I shoot and it’s circumstances mean the subject is more ad-hoc and immediate than would be in a controlled studio. Most photographs are to be printed in an A4 book [including A3 double-spread], some A1 prints and a few very large wallpaper prints. Basically shooting...
