Hello everyone, I'm asking another question again and want to know what most of us prefers. K-3 supports both PEF and DNG format RAW, and I would like to know who uses what format and for what reason? Also, I believe the PEFs are 14-bit RAWs (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Does anyone know if the DNGs are also 14-bit or 12-bit? Many thanks and have a lovely day! --http://www.mf-photography.com

I think I have a reasonably good understanding of all the debating regarding sensor and lens equivalency. The crop factor and sensor size dictate the reach, light gathering ability, and possible depth-of-field effect in comparison to a 35mm camera. Nevertheless I was wondering if anyone would care to provide a more detailed explanation of the pros and cons of equivalence and how it applies to my cameras, as examples. For example, which is the best choice for a 300mm shot in less than sunny...

Hi, Is it possible to use a similar Live view AF and quick magnification/ focus check function with K-1 and K-3 (also K-70 etc.) than what Pentax K-5 have?? : ...I found this K-5 feature very useful. And miss it with K-1. Thank you for help, Ari --- Ari Aikomus -'Why should I feel lonely ? is not our planet in the Milky way?'

Hello, everyone!I first started my DSLR journey with a K-30 in 2013 and it has been my loyal travel companion since then. Unfortunately, there has been some issue with its aperture in all modes except Manual. I discovered this in April, a month before my last summer trip, and the shutter count at that time was less than 4000. As I shot landscape in Manual most of the time on my holiday, it wasn't a problem until I gave wildlife a try. Every shot I took in Av and Tv modes was pitch black and...

I would like to switch from Pentax camera systems to Nikon. My major problem with Pentax is its focusing system, I own the K-30, K-50, K-01, K-5II and K-3, all give me a 50% hit or miss on the focus in bright or low light situations and drives me nuts. I don't want to invest a ton off money on my first Nikon so was looking at possibly a good used D610. I am a hobbyist and mostly take pictures at the Zoo's, air museum's  and my favorite granddaughter,  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a little longer reach...  I've been kicking around the idea of replacing my old DA50-200 (non-WR) with a 55-300.  Actually the 50-200 will just find a permanent home on my old *istDL where it performs great. Not sure whether I should grab the old 55-300 if I find a good deal or if I should spend a little more for the new PLM version.  So far, I've found roughly a $90 price difference which isn't a deal breaker for me.  But I hate to be an early adopter for new firmware until I...

I have read that there is an upgrade for the K-3. Does that include the K-3ll? Thanks, tom W(ret) --...a bad picture is like a missed putt, it's never your fault.http://photographybythomaswhitehurst.zenfolio.com

Let me quote the statement from the K-3 mk2 user manual below. [QUOTE] Highlight Correction/Shadow Correction Expands the dynamic range and enables a wider range of tones to be recorded by the CMOS sensor, and reduces the occurrence of overexposed/underexposed areas. [UNQUOTE] I can agree to the second part of the benefits as that's the whole purpose of features. However, I have a problem with the first one. Suppose I set High(or Strong) for Highlight Correction, then the camera would try to...

Hi all, tomorrow, my partner and me will have the joy of going on a balloon trip (about an hour of flight). Now I am looking for some input: - Which lenses should I bring for my K-3? My guess is that a wide angle lens (I have the Sigma 10-20) plus the DA 18-135 would be a good choice. WR will not be a limiting factor as we will lift only when the weather is fine (no rain, not much wind). - What about a longer tele lens? This would have to be the lowly Tamron 70-300 in my case. - And would a...

Is Samyang (Rokion) 10mm f2.8 15mm equivalent to APS-C cameras like K-3 and K-5? I thought this 10mm lens is for APS-C specifically, but one Amazon review says its equivalent to 15mm on K-5s so I was kinda confused.... Anything I am missing here?
