Let me quote the statement from the K-3 mk2 user manual below. [QUOTE] Highlight Correction/Shadow Correction Expands the dynamic range and enables a wider range of tones to be recorded by the CMOS sensor, and reduces the occurrence of overexposed/underexposed areas. [UNQUOTE] I can agree to the second part of the benefits as that's the whole purpose of features. However, I have a problem with the first one. Suppose I set High(or Strong) for Highlight Correction, then the camera would try to...
Hi all, tomorrow, my partner and me will have the joy of going on a balloon trip (about an hour of flight). Now I am looking for some input: - Which lenses should I bring for my K-3? My guess is that a wide angle lens (I have the Sigma 10-20) plus the DA 18-135 would be a good choice. WR will not be a limiting factor as we will lift only when the weather is fine (no rain, not much wind). - What about a longer tele lens? This would have to be the lowly Tamron 70-300 in my case. - And would a...
Hi all, is it doable in K-1 to link spot metering with AF point? In manual Pentax doesnt tell, but they dont tell lots of stuff, so can anyone of the happy K-1 owners test if it works? I remember some time there was an Pentax user who claimed it works with his K-3II. He even posted a samples from his test and it looked like worked. Thanks a lot, Jack

So after a little over 2 years since release, how does this lens perform especially on modern 24mp APSC sensors? I have been interested in this lens since it's release for it's size and weight and the "Limited" name on it which should deliver excellent image quality as to all the other Pentax Limited series lenses. But since reading reviews after reviews my impression about this lens is mixed. From pentax forums and lenstip they reviewed the lens as not very good at all for it's price. It's...
Hi. I'm just starting photography as a hobby and want to shoot great outdoor nature. I almost bought the K-3ii a few days ago and cancelled it because of the warranty issue as it comes from Japan. And, now, I open up my mind and decided to look in to mirrorless one more time and found out X-T1 could be a good option, tool. I like the way it is built. The reason I was trying to get a K-3ii was mainly it build quality and weather sealing capability. But, X-T1 also don't come with image...
Sorry if this has been asked here before.... I've had my K-1 for two weeks now and I keep getting "Card not formatted" and "No Photo" errors on multiple SDXC cards I have. I THINK I have figured it out but wanted to ask if anyone here can comment as i don't want to rely on the cards if it's more than a user issue... On another forum I read that if you do not properly eject a card from a Mac, the error message is likely. This was never the case with my K-3, but when I cycle the card from K-1...

I'm new to photography and think I might just found a good camera for me. I know K-3s are quality builds and have almost 200,000 shutter actuations. But, because I'm a newbie, I need second opinions from advanced photography users, so to speak. What is your opinion about 3200 shutter counts on K-3s? How many counts of shutter would an average camera enthusiast take in a month? 3000 shots, is it like-new? or is it just NEW? Thanks a lot for your help!
Hello everyone, a K-3 owner posting for the first time here. I have normally used prime lenses, but went and got an 18-135mm for general use at events. Unfortunately the edge sharpness on this lens is not to my personal taste. Can anyone recommend from personal experience a standard range zoom that has good sharpness across the frame? It does not need to have the same range as the 18-135, especially at the telephoto end. My other option is to plug the hole in my prime lens line-up by getting...
