Hey all, first post. I'm looking to upgrade the 8-year-old K20D, and it's down to the KP and Nikon D7200. My main area of contention is the continuous AF tracking. I take pictures of my dogs and my friends dogs often, and the K20D can't keep up. The D7200 seems to be proven in its ability to track moving subjects well, and the test here illustrates its capabilities well, but I can't find anything very thorough about the KP. I've read the threads here and on Pentax Forums, tried numerous...
Hello Does anyone know the story behind different K20D grip design? Was the one with indentation for a specific market? Just curious if it was a prototype or a fewer number production. Majority of K20D has the straight finger grip area like this below. Thanks for any info that you may have.

I'want to to buy an old (in technology years) Pentax DSLR to use my old M42 50mm Super Takumar (it's from a Spotmatic, the very first camera I ever had). I only need one dial to control the shutter speed, as I'll control the aperture right from the lens. I was thinking something along the lines of the "old cheap reliable workhorse", maybe a Kr or Kx. Is there any limitation regardless metering, or something? I already have a high end Pentax, but I want the "new-old one" to be attached to the...
Hi. I have recently been trying to freshen up my knowledge on DSLRs. Though, I am a beginner eventhough I have had a Pentax K20d/K7 from they where new (about 10 years). I have basically gotten that since I am a beginner, it´s me and not the camera that is the fault. I would like to know where to find information of how to take good pictures of running dogs, playing dogs, dogs that are runnung towards me, etc. I have no point I can set the AF at so to say. I know that there is hugh...
Still... learning the K-1's UI... and settings... coming from K20D and K-01. Q: The LV button switches the screen on and off. 1 user action. Is there a way to do the same for the info-settings screen? I mean, with one action on or off? For now i have to press info twice and then use 'the arrow keys' and select the 'off' or 'on' choice and press ok. (1st or 3rd from the left) Thx in advance. ;-) rgrds. Henk (K-1&01, K20D&DBG-2, GF2+14042X & LBA).
Any news about the K-1 availibility? I'm in the Netherlands and all stores are sold out. It's like a month ago: out-of-stock. Pre-ordering is possible. Do we know how come? Does somebody has insight info on this???? Any news of/when Pentax will deliver again worldwide and Europe / the Netherlands??? --;-) rgrds. Henk (K-01, K20D&DBG-2, GF2+14042X & LBA).
Saved some money and getting closer to pull the trigger on the K-1. Currently I'm using the K3 and have the FA 31mm f/1.8 and FA 50mm f/1.4 Also the DA 50-135mm f2.8 and the Sigma 10-20 f3.5 Just need your opinion on the lens I should think of getting with the K-1 I'm getting the new Pentax 70-200 for sure. Not sure about the 15-30 and 24-70 yet. Used to have the Macro 35mm limited but it took a hard hit and broke! If I get the new 3 FF lenses and the K-1, It will be more than $8000...
Since I shoot mostly in available light, I have not invested heavily in modern flash units. I have successfully used my trusty Vivitar 283 on my K20d via the hot shoe extension cord of the flash. I am hoping that might be an option with the K-1 as well, especially since it has no on board flash. Maybe someone here could tell from this information in the manual, whether or not my flash would be safe: "Caution• Flashes with the reversed polarity (the center contact on thehot shoe is minus)...
