So ive been having mixed results with my Pentax K10d, just curious if you have any recommendations. Tonight, I turned on the debug mode because ive had a lot of soft results especially at 18mm with the 18-55mm kit lens. With my 50mm F1.4 M lens I am to blind to manually focus. The catch in focus has been consistently wrong too. I set af in debug mode +60 and now the manual focus lens is much better with catch in focus (or I am getting lucky) with the 18-55mm lens I was getting better...
I think my search skills are not up to scratch, but I could not find the information. Anyway ... I need to finetune AF on both my K10D and K-5; for the latter because the +10 adjustment no longer seems to cut it for a number of lenses. K10D V1.30The AF test menu has an entry for an af area test; I can select numbers from 0 to 3. What are they? K-5 V1.16 (if not mistaken)Except for af area test, the AF test menu also has an entry for af area number; I can elect numbers from 0 to 10. What are...
Learned folk, I know it will be very old hat for most of you folks, but I have just acquired a Pentax K10d, as a progression, and to supplement, my beloved K100d. Not being at all familiar with the K10d, I wondered if the noticeable feeling and sound of a "bump", and a light thudding, when rotating the camera, was a characteristic of this model. The camera seems to perform fine and I wondered if it could be something to do with the sensor cleaning mechanism? Any ideas folks? Regards...
Hello, I have unfortunately lost all my photo gear in an accident. My gear bag containing all my equipment got crushed under the wheels of a 40t truck. :( So I am back to square 1. I used to shoot with a Pentax K5 + Pentax K20D, a DA* 50-135 f/2.8, the DA* 16-50 f/2.8 and the F 70-210 f/4-5.6. Since I have to completely rebuild my full gear on a tight budget I have been studying several options. First of all I mainly shoot Football (Soccer that is for our US friends) Rugby Union, Polo and Ice...
I have several lower end Pentax mount lens that I previously used in a 35mm Ricoh. Rather than buying an entire new system of some brand I'm questioning buying a used Pentax that can still use these. I am very, very much a novice who would like to experience a bit more potential than provided by my point & shoot Olympus. Ease of use is a priority, too. If I shouldn't go this route I'd appreciate some recommendations on a newer easy to use system of some sort that I can get into for around...

I currently own the K10D and am looking with envy at the K-30 or K-50 models for their larger pixel count and much improved high iso performance, amongst other things. However I did wonder if the improved high iso was at the expense of base iso? I'd appreciate some feedback from users who have upgraded from the K10D. Besides being a bit bigger are the raw files just as clean at base iso? Are they just as maleable in post work?
I usually shoot with M mode by setting the exposure according to the position of EV bar in OVF. And I used to having the EV bar at -1 (under exposure), and Auto EV Compensation OFF. Everything was OK until one day of last month, when I found the LCD on my K5-IIs was so bright that it washed out the whole image, if I do Live View, Instant Review and Playback the images I am taking. Then I adjusted the LCD Display Settings to Brightness -3, Contrast +3. The Playback of images is acceptable now,...
I've not used my K10D before with a flash. I've used flash on other cameras, but I've rapidly come to the conclusion that it's easier and more intuitive to use Auto mode on the flash ( where the flash meters ) rather than relying on the K10D in P-TTL mode.In particular bounce seems to work a lot better with Auto than with P-TTL.Anyone else have comments on that ?
