I'm taking a trip to the countryside to take some astrophotography pictures with an old manual lens from my first camera: a Super Takumar 50mm f 1,4 (M42 mount).  I've used it before with an Olympus EM5 and the Orion constellation fits perfectly on a 100mm equivalent. I'll shoot with that camera and my good old trusty Pentax K10D.  So, here's the question: I know the focal lenght of the lens changes with the sensor size, but what about the distance scale?  In short, if I put the focus on the...

I want to get an all-around zoom for shooting in conditions where I don't want to change lenses. I'm looking at the Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro and the Pentax smc DA 18-270 f/3.5-6.3. I have Pentax k100 and k10  and soon a k3II, so was leaning toward Pentax figuring same maker, better compatibility. But learned that it is actually made by, I think, Tamron.  So now I wonder if that makes compatability a non-issue. Otherwise, specs, reviews and comments are similar, and Sigma is $100...

Hello guys, I am new to dslr and these photography stuffs. I just bought Nikon D5600 camera(Used Pentax K10D before). I have a Sigma 70-300mm Apo DG lens, and I tried to mount it on d5600 but it won't mount.I am afraid to force mount it. I have a Pentax K10D and was wondering, what's the difference between Pentax's own PEF format and Adobe's DNG straight out of the camera? I took some shots on both formats and did some editing but can't really tell them apart. Thanks!

I'want to to buy an old (in technology years) Pentax DSLR to use my old M42 50mm Super Takumar (it's from a Spotmatic, the very first camera I ever had). I only need one dial to control the shutter speed, as I'll control the aperture right from the lens. I was thinking something along the lines of the "old cheap reliable workhorse", maybe a Kr or Kx. Is there any limitation regardless metering, or something? I already have a high end Pentax, but I want the "new-old one" to be attached to the...

I got an old set of manual extension tubes and wanted to give them a try in combination with my Samyang 85/1.4 - which is a great lens, but can only focus down to 1 m. Wanted to have a look at its hidden macro capabilities ... :) So I got my manual PK extension tubes out; they have both the aperture control lever (for stopping down the aperture during exposure and for DOF preview) and the aperture simulator - not used on the digital DSLR line. But I had to discover that you can't stop down...

I have just downloaded and installed DCU 5.6.1. I usually develop my RAW photos with Lightroom, but from time to time I also use DCU. To my surprise, it seems that Ricoh-Pentax has apparently dropped PEF support, as I cannot open PEF files from my former *ist DS or K10D with this updated version of their software. Now I use DNG on my K-7 and K-S2 bodies, but even some PEF shots taken with the K-7 cannot be open with DCU 5.6.1 Has Ricoh dropped PEF support intentionally or is it a bug? Or...

Sigma Zoom Master 35-70mm f2.8-4  or here Lately got a chance to buy this lens for small money. Knowing nothing about this old goody I thought I´ll give it a try on my trusty old K10D. Here two samples of what it produces mounted at the K10D : 70mm / f 5.6  Not a superfast and automatic lens, it still looks well built and gives the feeling of old time shooting style, but I wasn´t not looking for an all automatic fast lens. I think for really small money (~ 30,- to 40,- €) one can get...

Hi there, I recently purchased a K-S2 body, and am trying it out with my lens collection. For some reason, my Sigma 50-200 4-5.6 HSM acts weird. It sometimes works, but very often it won't focus, and the indications in the viewfinder go berzerk. The lens works flawlessly on my Samsung GX-10 (Aka Pentax K10d), and all my other lenses work fine on the K-S2 (although the Sigma is the only one with a built-in focus motor) Anyone experienced something similar? Regards, Peter.
