A few days ago I wanted to see how my Q/Q7 performs in a studio environment with remotely triggered flashes. I used a simple wireless remote trigger for this that fits on a standard hotshoe and has only one contact at the bottom - the big middle one. Curiously enough neither the Q nor the Q7 could trigger the flashes with the hotshoe remote device. I of course tested it with other cameras - it performed flawlessly on a K-01, K5-II and even on a small Panasonic LX3 - no problems there. I...
My Pentax K-01 is the 'serious' camera I take with me everywhere. Though many hate it, and I acknowledge its flaws, I love the thing paired to my FA limited primes. The camera uses the 16MP sensor employed in everything from the Nikon D7000, through the Sony NEX-5 and Fujifilm X100. I have long assumed it's ISOless till ISO 800 based on what I've read about the D7000. However I know that implementations can change this. Is there a simple way to check - without expensive equipment and...
So, over the weekend I got a K3 in the mail, and I want to love it, but I don't think I am maximizing what I can get out of it, and wanted to reach out to the community for help. So, first two things I wonder if I need to send it back, or send it to Pentax for a review: 1. My DA* 16-50 does not seem to want to play nice with the K3 - it keeps jumping in and out of focus, and does not let me fire. I have never had this issue on either my K10 or my K-01. Will fine tune AF fix this? 2. The...

In dpreview's X-M1 review, they say: While Fujifilm offers two choices for how quickly the camera starts up (found in the Power Management menu), we found no appreciable difference in startup speed. The X-M1 starts up in just under one second. If the camera has gone into power saving mode, you must hold the shutter release down for a second to wake it up, which is too long in our opinion. ... Shot-to-shot speeds hung around the 1.1 second mark, regardless of the image quality setting. The...

I love the idea of a small FF system, and will get the A7 with 35mmf2.8. But I don't need a small system every time I pick up the camera. I am having a new baby this winter, which probably means I am going to be hunkered down for a few months changing diapers and taking pictures (not together), so I am looking for a fast lens for indoor kid shots in some less than perfect lighting. Because it's in my house, I don't care about size of lenses. What would you get, the 55f1.8, or would you go...
Hi again... :-), In my experience the K01 decides what to focus on, in a variable way. Is this normal and is there a setting to use a fixed focus point in auto/green mode ? In Av or Tv or other modes i can choose what kind of focus point and it's even possible to place the focus point, fixed, off-centre on the display etc.. But ... NOT in AUTO/GREEN mode, in my experience, or.... am i overlooking something ???? Please advise and thanks in advance. --;-) rgrds. Henk (K-01, K20D&DBG-2,...
Hi everybody, When i put my K01 in Av mode, with AF/s, and i move the cam i hear, at about every move, a klicking-like sound. In finding out how come i looked into the lens and think i saw the diaphragma opening and closing every time i point and something else. This is done automatically by the cam: i'm leaving all buttons free. Is this a standard 'thing' or else ? Hope somebody here knows the answer and thanks in advance. :-) --;-) rgrds.
