I have been a Pentax buyer going back to film ME Super. I bought a K200D and have been happily shooting with that for quite a while. I'm finally looking to take a plunge and upgrade a bit. I'm looking at K-70, especially for the variable angle monitor, ability to shoot some video (although I know it is limited quality), and finally moving to a weather sealed camera. The question I have is- Should I buy the camera with a Kit lens, and if so, which one? I have a few lenses that I am currently...

I have a k5 that seemed to miss focus a lot.  I came across a beal on a k50 I couldn't pass up on so bought that.  It seemed to focus better with the 18-55 WR.  This evening I was playing around (inside, low light) and was very disappointed in the image results.  I compared them to my small sensor compact xz-2.  The xz-2 looked better.  I tried manual focus on the k50 and was able to get much better shots.   Is the focus control, or logic, in the lens or the camera body? I've been thinking...

I am about to buy my first DSLR. After browsing through the internet for days and reading practically all available reviews, I short-listed the following- 1. Pentax K-S2 with an SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR lens 2. Nikon D5500 with an AF-S DX 18-140 f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens I was very excited about the K-S2 but here in India we don't get Pentax cameras except on Amazon. And the lens too is unavailable as part of the kit. I'd have to get it imported from the US by B&H. Thus, I can't...

Hi, I currently have a midrange zoom and a long zoom for my K-3. The long zoom performs just fine. The midrange zoom seems to have problems with autofocus, and I hear that this is a common problem when people mount non-Pentax lenses on Pentax cameras. Can anyone recommend some midrange zooms for the K-3 that do *not* have focusing problems and produce good quality images? Some I am considering are below. Only some of these have reviews on DXOMark. 1. Pentax smc DA 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 ED SDM 2....

Hi, I am thinking of changing out my standard zoom.  I have the Sigma 24-70mm HSM which is a quality lens but it is so heavy, 790g. It can occasionally have a wobble on its anti-shake performance too. I had it checked out and there is nothing wrong with the lens. I would like to get something a bit lighter and with a wider angle than 24mm.  The 16-85mm WR would do this well and looks on paper to be a better lens than the other possible. that is the 18-135mm WR. Both of these are less than...

I am not a technical guy with respect to camera & lens equipment, and have just purchased a K-3 with the 18-135mm WR & 55-300mm WR lenses & a 1.4x TC. I am doing some "desktop experimenting" with these and a Polaroid 500D close-up lens, and find that the listed spec for minimum focusing distance on the 18-135mm is shown at .4m or ~16". I get a min. distance of ~7.5" at 18mm, and ~9.5" at 135mm with the bare lens. What am I missing? Thanks. CraigK

Hi,I am thinkingabout to buy the K5 II with the 18-135 for 1350 €. The shop gives a refund of 150. Then I could buy a good prime for ~ 400 € (Probably I would need to buy it somewhere else). The alternative is to buy a Nikon D600 for 1600 € (which means to get a Nikkor 50mm F1.8 for free) and buy a Nikon 24-85 fpr ~ 400 €.What does make more sense to you? What would you do?
