I was here last December and was about to pull the trigger on a FZ200 when I lost my job. Now I've been in a new job for 6 months and am back to purchasing something and I am confounded all over again. To start, here is what I tend to take. Most of those are taken with a trusty old Canon S3 IS. So I tend to take nature photos, everything from macro insects, mushrooms and flowers, to Smoky Mountain landscapes, to birds (if I could catch them.) The Canon is getting long-in-the-tooth with a few...

I have an Olympus XZ1 which I carry around with me for casual shots. These are usually of group scenes indoors (friends at a party say) or landscapes and weather. I have found it a bit limited, would like to take wider angle shots and also had to fiddle quite a bit with the settings in order to get rid of the orange cast. It has a landscape setting which is not very good indoors and nor does it give that wide an image when used outdoors. The other day my Olympus went flat on me, and I...
I currently have a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. Which has been a good camera up to this point. But I want "more"! I really hate having the camera up against my face to take a shot. Which maybe something I'll have to get over. It is the reason I didn't go with the DSLR way back when. This was at the time the next step down from that option. I always use the view finder screen to locate what I wish to take. That option allows me really cool shots when hiking and staying safer back from the edge. Or...
I am looking to buy a new entry level DSLR. I've been using a Canon S3is which has served me well for 6 years. The camera has died recently and I want to upgrade to a DSLR. I am interested in landscape and macro photography. Occasionally I take pictures in low light and at night. Not a big fan of post processing. I also own a Raynox DCR 150 lens with a 1,5 magnifying capability which I have used with the S3is. Problem is I can't decide on what camera to buy. I have read reviews and I have...

Both of my kids play soccer and run track in High School. Mostly outdoor, but they do indoor track and indoor soccer sometimes. I have a couple of old Point & Shoot cameras but I'd like something that has a better video (focus), zoom and takes faster action shots. The best one I have how is a Canon Powershot S3. I've been looking at the reviews here and I'm wondering if I need to jump ($$$) to a DSLR, a micro 4/3rds or if the newer P&S cameras have what I'm looking for? If I need to move...
It's my first time posting, and since I've been having problems on deciding, I figured asking advice would help? I've had my S3 IS since it came out in 2006, and while it's been lovely to use, it needs replacing. Last year the battery life (has four AA batteries, I used NiMH rechargeable mostly) started lasting only a few hours when before it would generally go several days with daily use, and compared to other newer point and shoots you can pretty much see its age. While I'd love to upgrade...
Just acquired an S3pro with the 24-120mm VR basically by accident. Seller advertised it as a film camera and I only really cared about the glass and the price was right. However after picking up the camera( I was already fairly certain Fuji never made a film body with the F mount) I discover its the S3. Seller informed me the lens made noises( VR wouldn't work on the S3 anyway) but find the viewfinder is really dark and the exposures are a couple of stops over exposed. I sort of figured...
Hi everyone. I am very new to Fuji equipment, i recently bought a S3 and S5PRO and for what i do i am very happy with this top notch cameras. I recently sold my Nikon D7000 and yes, sometimes is good to have a high ISO capable camera for certain purposes, and although i currently DON'T need one, i have been paying more attention to the XE-1 and XPRO-1 cameras all of you mention here and i am reading and seeing that they have EXCELLENT ISO and AWB performance, and perhaphs in a near future i...
I am not a photographer, but I have to use this camera for my design job. However, I am very confused as to why all my images load in at 72 dpi. I know this is an older camera, but I have my settings on high, yet they all upload low?? Is this a camera setting or an import setting? I'm using am imac and uploading with iphoto.any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
