I routinely shoot a show that has terrible lighting and am considering buying an IR light to illuminate it myself. Does anyone have any experience converting an Olympus camera to IR ? I have an e-pl2. Please let me know your thoughts and any caveats, and also anything you really like to do with your IR camera. Thank you.
Recently bought myself a set of cheap chinese radio flash triggers. Pocket Wizard knock offs. They work great with my epl2. Put them into the hotshoe and shoot away - the strobes fire fine. Totally do not work with my OMD. A bit of investigation shows why - the epl uses the retaining rim of the hotshoe as one part of the circuit to fire the strobe trigger wit the hot spot on the middle of the shoe floor giving the other contact. The OMD has a heavily anodised paint job on the hot shoe rim -...
I recently bought a used olympus E-PL2 to try out the micro four thirds system (until this I've always had SLRs). Theres something happening with the exposure compensation that I don't understand though, and I wondered if anyone can help explain it? With every camera I've ever used, the exposure compensation isn't complicated; I set (say) -1EV and from then on that is applied to all shots unless I change it. With the E-PL2 though, it isn't staying as I set it. For example: the camera is in...

My Olympus E-PL2 simply won't pick up violet. It renders violet flowers as a lovely blue. I was hoping there might be an improvement in later PLxx models or a firmware change. I see that the latest models still use the same sensor, which isn't encouraging. What makes it worse is that the iPhone seems to have solved this problem. I was explaining to a friend the fascinating problem of violet versus purple, and how digital sensors can't detect true violet. To prove my point I whipped out the...
Hi all- I've been using my trusty E-PL2 for a number of years now, and soon will have the need to use a more powerful, external flash for an event I'm shooting. Was wondering if I can use my old Nikon SB-24 -- I put it in the hot shoe, but it didn't trigger. (BTW, I've confirmed that the SB-24 shouldn't fry the circuitry of the Oly already) Am I missing something? Should this work, and if so, how would I use it? I assume on manual, but how specifically? My flash knowledge is rusty, as it...
I have just purchased the above camera. The manual indicates that there should be an icon on the screen when I use a Myset. My reading suggests that this is a new feature with this camera. So far I have not been able to see this icon displayed even after selecting one of the two Mysets I have programmed. I know that the Myset works because the camera settings do change when I choose the different Mysets. Has anyone else run into this behaviour or can tell me what I am doing wrong? (I have...

I have an E-PL2 as a back-up M43 camera; my main camera is a Pany G6. I am planning a cold-weather outing on Sunday, and rather than fumble switching lenses with heavy gloves, I may just put my 14-42mm II lens on the E-PL2. I was planning to use the Pany lens instead of my Oly lens due to its high IQ and a lens hood. This lens doesn't have an on/off switch for IS, so how do I turn it off on an Oly body if I use a tripod? The E-PL2's IS menu (I use the Super Control Panel) seems to shut off...
Please help, I own an Olympus E-PL2 camera which has a cracked rear display glass. My problem is I do not know if the glass\polycarb is attached to the LCD or it is a separate piece which can be removed separate from the LCD. I am afraid to use any tools and pry it off if it is attached to the LCD in any way. My LCD is not damaged and displays everything correctly. Any help as to how these things are put together or taken apart would also be appreciated. --oly620I am not a pro and only post...
