In anticipation of a trip to Yosemite in about a month, I have been thinking about learning my OM-D E-M5 Mark II’s high resolution mode, but something I've come across puzzles me. My research indicates that it takes about one second for the sensor to make the eight shifts required for an image taken in this mode. But shutter speeds up to eight seconds are possible. Does this mean that if one uses a shutter speed of eight seconds, the sensor would just makes its shifts more slowly and take...
After a few years of hard work, my EM5 is giving me trouble. All my shots now have a large amount of reddish shadow noise, particularly in higher ISO. Darker areas look like they have rusted. Facial tones look cartoonish. They look really awful. There is no problem with white balance. I can remove the tinge by processing my raw images but the noise level is really terrible. I did not have this problem until a trip cross country. For whatever it is worth, the camera did go through airport...
I have been taking photos on holiday and some of them came out really weird. I use the omd em5 my 1 and the kit lens and shoot in raw. All photos up to one day were fine but a serf from one day were all really blocky and pixelated. Zooming in it had issues and there was not much clarity. I couldn't import the raw files into Lightroom either. What could have caused this to happen? Any ideas if this is a setting or a quirk of the camera? I've not witnessed it before. I had to reset the...
Hello DPreview members, First let me thank DPreview sites for providing latest news, reviews of cameras and lenses and thank all registered users for creating loads of content by participating in the various forums or questionnaires. I am a photography hobbyist and currently using my Nikon D90 purchased in 2008. I am planning to buy a new camera. Though it is understood that buying a camera is based on personal taste (what one likes the most about that camera and how often one uses that...

I've been shooting Micro Four thirds for 5 years. 2 Years on a Panasonic GX1, then I switched to a OMD EM5 Mark 1. All this time I was only shooting photos, and now I'm starting to shoot about 50% Photos 50% videos, so I'm looking for a camera that meets my needs. What I love about M43: Lens size and selection, ibis , portability What I hate about M43: Low light performance What I'm considering: OMD EM1 Mk , GH5, a6500 , a7Rii (or holding out for the next A7 camera). I've tested all of...
Do any companies produce insulated camera covers for micro four-thirds cameras? I have an Olympus OM-D E-M5 III and was recently up a snowy mountain, where the temperatures were around -20C/-4F. The result was a total failure. There seem to be plenty of snow covers for DSLRs, but these are all much bigger than necessary for a micro four-thirds.
My daughter is starting to shoot (much better on comp and editing than I am), she's 16. I am going to Italy and she is going to Africa, I know both very lucky, but She doesn't have a set up and I want to help. I am taking my OM-D E-M5 and I'm giving her my older PEN E-P1. I have a Panny 20mm F1.7 and an Oly 45mm F1.8...Big question which lenses do I buy for her? Need one zoom and one figure 14-50mm type. Thanks for the help, Kevin
I recently bought an Olympus OM-D E-M5 in mint condition for a really cheap price. It was a great deal and for me it's a lot better than buying an expensive new Mark II. I'm now in the process of buying some lenses for it. Me & my girlfriend are leaving for a 14-month long tip spent adventuring (off-trail hiking and climbing mainly) so it's nice to have a nice and light camera setup for the trip - compared to my old Nikon D3100. I mostly like taking landscape photos so a wide-angle lens is...
