I sold my D700 and lenses a couple of years ago, in favour of a Panasonice GH4 plus lenses. I so much like to use a camera at waist level, and sometimes below, that the lack of even a tilting mirror was a big downside to the D700. While the GH4 is an excellent camera, there are times when I really miss the something extra I saw in the best D700 images. When the D750 came out a couple of months later, I regretted selling the Nikon lenses, but too late. Now I'm considering adding either a...

This morning I put a Sigma 12-24 DG HSM (full frame, not the II version) on my D700.  Exposed a few frames at 12 and 24 and found that at 12mm there is a huge circle with just fits in the 24x36 frame. Outside of this circle is solid black. The store owner said to check whether the D700 on crop mode. Yes it was. Reset to full-frame, repeated the process with the same result. Sigma DG means full frame right? Furthermore its a fat barrel, so no ways is this designed for crop. I have a crop...

To achieve 8fps CH on a D700 it needs a EN-EL4a battery in the battery grip and the EN-EL3e battery in the camera. The grip has an AA battery holder as well which takes 8 batts. (I have two EN-EL3e batts)* My question:  AA batts are 1.5 volts, rechargeable batts are 1.2 volts. Before I get rechargeables, I would like to know if anyone else has tried them and achieved the 8fps. * and the goal posts are moved yet again!

I have a D700 with a genuine nikon MBD10 grip. I have the battery inserts to use AA's or the EN EL3e. Up until now I have used rechargeable AA's and thought I would try the EN EL3e instead yet there is no option in the battery type menu to pick anything  other than the various AA types. If I use the EN EL3e insert it is not recognised, what am I missing?

The question “How do I convert SNR differences between cameras from db to f/stops?” has been asked and answered all over the internet, but I find no resolution between 3 dB and 6 dB. For example: From the following post (http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/39692269) Conversion of SNR dB figures to stops: Question: Iliah Borg wrote: My conversion is: stops = log[base 2] (10 ^ (dB/10) ) Roughly 6dB is 1 stop in photography. ND 0.3 is 1 stop. Is this the same dB measure? Answer: From what I have...

Hi all,Just got a D500 ; I have used D700 for ages, last year went the Df route and with both I have been processing NEF files nicely using CNX2.Unluckily I must find other software for D500 NEFs. I have the option of using PhotoNinja and Capture One in the future but I need to learn them from starting point. It will certainly happen but needs quite some time.I have read from several sources that Nikon's NXD late versions provide some nice results as raw converter although is reported to be...

Here is my problem. On the EM10 mkii when I am in playback mode and zoomed in to pixel peep I want to be able to press just 1 button (preferably the OK button) and go back to normal not zoomed in mode. I can do this on my Nikon D700 no problem.  Right now the only way to get back to normal not zoomed in , I have to carefully rotate the rear control dial to go back and sometimes it passes the point and displays the multi image screen. Can anyone help PLEASE! I am going nuts. Thanks you

Hi all, I currently shoot with a Nikon D700 which at the moment has over 180000 shutter actuations and the mirror locks often. I am thinking of switching to Pentax K-1 instead of replacing the mirror mechanisms and probably also the shutter in my old D700. Does anybody from K-1 users ever shot with a D700 before and can comment about autofocus between the two? How K-1 AF compares to that one found in Nikon D700 (which is technologically about 8 years old now). The K-1 just ticks all the boxes...

What's with the D750 remote control function quitting after so many moments of not using or when one turns the camera off? This can be very annoying and breaks the flow of shooting when you have to go find it and reset it. I first recently heard this complaint from a photographer who was shooting stars. Then tonight I did indeed experience it while trying to shoot fireworks. If I waited too long between shots, I'm guessing that's when the camera sleeps, the function is forgotten. Sure I could...

I always "wondered" what is like to own one of these puppies. For such a long, long, long time i have been wanting a FF camera but simply could not afford it. I could only dream of owning one. Even about one or two years ago the D700 was way out of my price range, and all of the sudden, in 2016 I buy a used affordable nikon D4??? Maybe this is just a dream. :-) Is a very strange feeling I tell ya. What I wanted to ask at this point is, what is THE best 50mm lens you have put or found for a FF...
