i've been asked to shoot an 'intimate' concert (4 musicians), not too brilliant lighting, etc., i normally shoot video and rarely shoot stills. when i have in the past (offer me money and i'll turn any trick), i used to use my d700, high iso without flash. results were more than acceptable, even with some noise. recently i shot an art opening with my nex7, again, more than acceptable results without flash - in fact i like a little noise/grain in the pics, gives it an intimacy - though of...

Hallo I am very tempted to try Nikon D700 (olden but golden) to support my A6300 system I have been in for some time now. I am looking for better tool than A6300 for my action/sports shots of my active sons (judo and skatepark). A6300 has not been pushed by me to its limits, but it is just a matter of time. Now I experiment with manual Vivitar 28-90 and 70-210 and turbo lens II for better speed in low light conditions. In perfect light A6300 is a beast. So as I do not Nikon system at all,...
Hi, I am a wedding photographer using two Nikons D700 and d750. I am a bit frustrated an the number of times I need to keep getting the CCd cleaned on the 750. I am pretty much on the go non stop from April through to September so need to have my cameras cleaned all the time. The 700 mabye twice a year but the 750 I need to get it done mabye every two months. I am strict about keeping one lens on it and try never to chop and change to keep it clean. I cant figure out why it seems to attract...

I have a Nikon D7100 which I use as my general go to camera for Butterflies, portraits and general photography. My general hobbies are candids when people aren't looking to get natural laughs and natural expressions. I have a pretty extensive prime lense line up, ever since I got an annual bonus while being posted in Japan and discovering the joy of scouring used lense shops. The APS-C gives me a bit of longer lense distance (field of view, etc.) and so I can stand a bit of a distance making...
Hi All, Please help with your suggestion on upgrading to full frame. I own d7000 and planning to upgrade to full frame. I am confused between d700 and d610. I am more of hobby photographer and was planning to get Tamron 70-20 f/2.8 v2 (which is fx mount) this then drive me to move to full frame. I know it can be used on a crop sensor as well. So I thought to get a used full frame. Not sure if d700 is still the better camera in the current time. My usage is minimal, slowly trying to get in...

Hi I'm currently using D7100 with Sigma's 16-35mm A. When I was using D700 I saw some opinions saying standard range or shorter(wider) lenses would not need VR really much, so I choosed to use Nikon 24-70mm without VR. However I'm thinking of getting bit wider zoom lense since 16-35mm is bit restricted in expression when taking portraits. I was first thinking of getting Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 but I miss the old Nikon's 24-70 and adjusted focal length of 36-105mm seems not bad. Then I started...
Hi Everyone, Checking to see if you can help me with an Err message on my D700. It showed up after turning the camera on today after it has been in storage for about 7 months. Note that the battery was removed while the camera was in storage. When I press the shutter button, I hear a rapid mechanical sound, similar to when the camera is on sports mode, but no pictures are taken. Also, the autofocus does not work. I've tried a different battery, a different lens, and cleaned the lens contacts....
Hi I have a Nikon d700 camera. The camera is having intermittent problems with the shutter locking up when the camera is in auto focus mode .It happens with all the lenses and when I set the camera to Manual focus mode the shutter works fine and I can reset it to Auto focus or Auto focus C after that and take several pictures ( sometimes 10-20) before it locks up again. Interestingly the Auto focus seems to work even when the shutter is locked up.Any ideas what can be wrong and how to fix...

Hello. During the last days I had the opportunity to play around with an old Nikon D300. Besides the heavy weight (I'm a m43-user most of the time), some features caught my attention. But I am not sure, if these are exclusively implemented in the Nikon pro-style bodies like D300, D700, D800,.... or if they can be found in other bodies too. So please D600 and D750 owners, could you tell me, if the following features are in your camera? 1. When in manual mode and ISO set to "Auto", exposure...
