O great and powerful Nikon Gods, hear my prayer... I purchased a Nikon D3200 with a 50mm f1.8 a few months ago in the hopes that myself and my buddy (who also owns a D3200 but with a 35mm f1.8) could go into a portraiture business together. Well those plans have fallen through, and I now find myself at a crossroads. I have the funds for another lens, and this next lens purchase will probably determine which mount I buy into in the future. If I buy the 35mm f1.8 DX, for instance, then I will...

I guess this is a subject thats been hashed and rehashed again and again? And in many ways it comes to a no one prime is the ultimate street and or event lens. In past i have used a 35 a 50 and 85; I can't say which one I desired over another, so i thought I'd turn to the more experienced or "pro" shooters?  I've been a Nikon shooter for most 30 years, and will remain for my remaining days, I'm not planning to upgrade from my D700, can't get both lens and body.  In recent times i've become...

Hi, As a newbie Nikon user (bought an used D700 in July), I'm very impressed by the .NEF files from my D700, especially in kind of casual portraits types of photos. So far I can only compare with .RAW-files from my two APS-C Sony's A500/A6000. Beeing a newbie in PP (LR CC) I don't know enough to understand if I actually can produce similar colours from my Sony RAW-files, I by no means think they're bad, before I bought the D700 I was very satisfied with my Sony shoots, but now I tend to...

Have two questions, and hope you can help. i know the 200-500 is not compatibel with the D90 but how about the D700?  Another question what does not compatibel mean,  is the aperture not working and staying  at the lowesr f stop? Thanks for your help!  --D90, D7000, D700, Nikon 80-400mm 4,5-5.6, Tokina 50-135mm 2.8, Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4.0, Nikon 35mm 2.0, nikon 55 mm macro 2.0

I know this sounds like a stupid question. Yesterday during a shoot, the autofocus of my NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED (10 yrs old) quit. It has done this before...it would quit and then be okay again. I wasn’t sure if it was a lens or D810 issue. Yesterday, it happened twice but the autofocus quit for good. I attached my NIKKOR 28-70mm f/2.8D (11 yrs old) which has never had an issue. I just used it a few days ago. This time..no autofocus. I tried both lenses on an old D700. No autofocus. I...

Hello photographers!    I have been nerding out on digital cameras for a while and I wanted to ask this question.  What would you recommend for someone looking to buy their first DSLR?  The catch is, it has to be Nikon and used.  Here is my reasoning.  I stopped into a local shop and had a very helpful person tell me I would be better off getting a good used camera and spend the extra money on good lenses rather than get a kit and get some mediocre lenses.  I liked this helpful person and...

I recently bought a D700 and fell completely head over heels. Until I got a battery grips for it, the camera wouldn't see the grip. Yes it was a Nikon branded MB-D10 with an EN EL3a battery, I tried rechargeable batteries and set the batteries in the camera, and I tried the grip with just the battery in the camera, nothing worked. The camera would not see the grip. I thought it was grip so I returned it and bought a new one. Same same troubleshooting and same result, the camera simply would...

Hi, I realised that I need more than 300mm reach, when shooting kids soccer games outdoor. 300 has been enough up until now, but last weekend I realised that they're getting older and now starts to play on larger fields, so I feel the need for 400 (but so far not more). I'm currently using either my AF-S VR 70-300/4,5-5,6 G IF-ED + D700 or 70-200F4 + Sony APS-C. Since I wan't to keep weight at a minimum, I'm hesitating to get the 200-500 especially since I don't need more than 400 and when a...

Hi everyone, my first post here although i've been an avid reader of the forums and website for the past 5 years when looking for answers. I'm looking to buy my first full frame, coming from a Canon 550D and Fuji X-Pro 1. They've been tremendous cameras but i'm wanting to move up, it is not a need, purely a want.I'm looking at a second hand Nikon D700 with what seems to be a very low shutter count and in fantastic condition. I already have a Nikon 50mm 1.8D that was my brothers and my...
