Hello So - defenitely want to get a prime 35mm for the Nikon I plan to buy.  Question: I could buy a D5100 body and prime for the same price and a D3100 with a 18-55 kit lens and prime.  Should I ditch the D3100 with kit lens and just go for the D5100 and prime?  Or would you say its good to get a kits lens too?  Is it even worth stretching to the D5100 withthe 18-105 kit lens and prime?  This will be an extra £150 so the kit lens really needs to be worth having. Any thoughts? thanks

Hello Have decided really between these two cameras for my first Digital SLR.  The D5100 has slightly better reviews so thinking of getting that but it does not have the guide system.  As a beginner do you think it will really is that useful in helping me to understand different settings?  I have some basic knowledge but missing anything robust! Also, while I have you: i want to buy a prime lens and am looking at the Nikon AF-S 35mm f1.8 G DX Lens or Nikon 28mm f2.8 AF D.  The former is...

Hello everyone,The D5100 has finally came into my price range and I am considering buying it. I want to primarily use it for macro photography like this:http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows/downloads/mike-swanson-nature-themeI don't really know that much about photography and this would be my first non-point-and-shoot camera. I just need to know what good macro lenses there are under 300 dollars or so. I have tried doing some research on my own but there are a lot of terms that I don't...

hi,i'm buying a camera after quite some time and planing on buying one that will be my companion for the next 4-5 years at least. Because of my limited budget and my special needs considering the camera i'm having troubles picking the right one.My first choice was canon sx50hs, but couple of my friends are talking me out of it, saying that i should, for that amount of money, buy a dslr camera.i'm thinking that i won't, in the close future, be able to afford any additional equipment like lens...

First post, pardon any infractions.Moving up from P&S cameras here. Have a growing toddler and want to catch some memories. Additionally, would take some photos & video for his pre-school (non paid).I've been doing research for about a month, and have spent many hours pouring through forums. Have visited and held and played with Canon, Nikon and Sony. The ergonomics, size and style are secondary to me for my basic photo needs. Function or form for me. I want great quality results. Yes, I know...
