I used to have funny microphone cable that allowed me to plug a battery powered microphone into a female plug and also plug in a headset, then another plug to put into my video camera. I think this would allow me to hear the audio from a wired mic plugged into my Nikon... but I can find it and can't find it on line. Anyone have an easy solution that allows you to used a microphone on the talent and hear the audio coming into the D5100?
I have the Nikon D5100 which I love - I have the kit lens as well as the zoom lens. I've been reading over various entries about the best 'portrait lens' and would appreciate any suggestions. This is my first DSLR and like many parents, I am running around after a 2 year old and he's helping me practice my craft. If someone could explain to me, in simple terms, what the difference would be (to me) between a telephoto lens or a fixed focal length lens. Forgive my basic question - I'm...
I am looking for a smallish camera with a sensor large enough to take people pictures with relatively good subject isolation (shallow depth of field). I recently tested out a Nikon D5100 with a 35mm 1.8 prime lens and really loved the photos from it, but I ended up returning it because it's too big and heavy, and I would never be happy traveling with anything that large. Also, the field of view of that particular lens was a bit too narrow.I have an RX1 on order as I think it will provide...
I have a Nikon D5100 and was wondering if there is a way to take a picture from a video. I have a Sony video camera that when i watch back the video i can pause it where ever i want and zoom in or out and then take a picture of that image. Can the same be done with the D5100 as i can seem to find how to do it.
Hi. I wonder if someone can kindly give me some advice. I am looking set up a budget studio in my home so that I can use it for shooting portraits (families/kids etc). It won’t be a professional set up by any means, but I will be trying to produce as close to pro results as I can. I am wondering which camera I should get so that I can achieve the best results on a tight budget. Before this weekend I thought I would be getting the Nikon D5100 for around £420 with the kit lens (or I might wait...
Hi,I tried to look for an answer to this but couldn't find anything, sorry if this has been covered already.I am really tempted to get a 135mm f3.5 or 2.8 or even 200mm f4 Ai lens for my D5100, Ken Rockwell's charts does suggest that they'd fit but I am worried about the prongs, as the gap between my kit lens and flash is pretty less. I just wish to know if anyone here has tried them, and if I should go with it.I am aware of manual focus and metering issues, I just am worried if it'd...
