I'm looking for the cheapest possible suggestions for acceptable 500mm lenses. I'm aware that options such as mirror lenses, those long, typcially fixed f8 lenses from companies like Opteka, and teleconverters are frowned upon in forums like this. But, living in Montana, I'm desperate to photograph some of the abundant wildlife that can be found in nearby wilderness areas. I recently bought a used Nikon D5100 and Tamron 70-300mm zoom and have been researching options to extend range. So,...
Hi guys, I have the D5100 and I want to buy a wide angle lenses. I mostly prefer a really sharp, colorful and bright images because I am capturing landscape and night sky photos. I am between Tokina 11-16 and 11-20. What is your opinion between them? Is there any other lenses you think could be fit better on my needs? Thank you,Alex.
Hello, I know this is a really common question but I need help. For many I am using a Nikon D5100. I had a lot of great shoots and now i thing it's the time for a small update. I mostly prefer landscape picture and night pictures. I love impressionism so want colourful lights in my captures. Also I want clear, vivid and sharper images. Because I am self taught, I am trying to read everything about photography but I am still on the beginning. This is my flickr and you can see what I am doing...
I have D5100 and Sigma 17-50 2.8, 50 1.8G, Nikkor 18-200 VR. I have been using D5100 for 4 years. I do a lot of trekking and traveling. Camera is excellent in day light situations but it's very much limiting me in low light. I am getting too much noise even if I boost to 800 or 1600. Also 11 focal points are limiting my focusing capability. I want to upgrade my camera. I have D7200 and D750 in my mind. About money, I can afford to get a used D750. Any thoughts would help me in deciding.

Hi, I am a fire investigator and use a D5100 for my scene photos. Bulk and weight are considerations as I work in fire scenes. I need a low profile compact flash for my camera. My pop-up flash does ok most of the time, but I need a bit more light. I need something very budget friendly and be as small as possible. I would appreciate any suggestions. Btw, I am a novice at camera lengo, so please excuse my seemingly simplistic approach to my needs. thanks!!!
Hi, I think I killed my D5100. LCD had defect, bought new LCD and replaced it. Now when I turn On the camera I get a blank LCD and viewfinder displays blinking F - -, [-E-] and blinking focus confirmation dot. Here's what happen: Because I didn't want do risk removing the tiny connector on the LCD board I just detached both LCD flex connectors and detached the pcb board from the old LCD and put the new LCD. Because the pcb board is glued to the back of the old LCD, I had to use something...

I have a Nikon D5100 with the kit lens and a Nikkor 55-200 zoom. Both take 52mm filters. In the future I'd like to get a prime 50mm lens, the one I'm looking at takes a 58mm filter. I'm fairly new and want to start playing around with long exposure photos, so I've been looking to buy a good (but not great/expensive) filter, in particular an ND10 (or ND1000, still kind of fuzzy on naming schemes). Since I would have two different filter sizes and don't want to buy two different sized filters,...
