Hey guys I'm in a pickel. I was planning on giving my daughter my 5100 and buying a 7200 but not sure because I can get a 5100 for under $200. My question is should I go for the nikon 70-200 2.8 or hold off and get the 7200 first. Is the camera upgrade really worth it from a 5100 to a 7200. I know the iso's are a lot better in the 7200 and the mega pixies are better but I'm really digging the 70-200 2.8 lens. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi, I am new to wildlife photography. I own Nikon D5100. I am looking for a budget lens to start with which can take good close up shots of objects from 10-30 feet distance.  I am mainly interested in birds, insects, lake wildlife. Static and moving objects. I was reading reviews of 70-300, new tamron 18-400 and few other. Not sure which one is right. Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance. Tony

Hi,  My daughter has to use a D810 for her job ( I use a D7200 and D5100 ).  The D810  camera has a CF card in it and works fine. The idea was for experimenting purposes to add a personal SD card and to remove the CF card. The SD card was used in my D5100 and was formatted on the D5100. When inserting this SD card in the D810 and removing the CF card D810 pictures are written to the SD card. But when I give the format command with the D810 for the SD card , the camera accepts the command (...

My daughter asked me to take some prom photos (portraits and group) for her date and friends going to high school prom. There will be 4 or 5 couples. I've done this before at a nearby park or scenic spots along a river, but this will be different as it will be a hour after sunset and therefore very dark. I don't have portrait lights and I wouldn't know how to power them anyway. I don't like the stark light of the onboard flash (Nikon D5100 if that matters). I could rent a speedlight I guess....

I own the d5100 and am going to purchase the d750. I'm looking for a high quality lens that will be useful for both cameras. Im considering a 10 to 20mm 2.8 from tokina. Any ideas or recommendations.  I plan on shooting landscapes and night photography with this lens.

Hi, Looking at various used Speedlights for the like new D5100 I bought recently on ebay. First looked at dirt-cheap used SB600's. Leaning now towards a used SB800 after a little bit of reading. Or nothing at all. Unclear about flash xSync compatibility issues which might make the SB800 an unnecessary over-reach for a D5100 for my particular interests. Can these more recent Speedlights even be used with a D5100 when the shutter speed is above 1/180s? (or 1/200s?) Could I use it for moving...
