Question: Is the EXIF data reported by OM3 accurately reporting Image Stabilization as set on camera? .. when reported off is it in fact off and when it is set to IS1, IS2, IS3 and Auto will the EXIF Data always report that state? I ask because I was playing with a new to me but old 50-200mm lens and noted that I was getting a lot of blurred shot at below 1/EFL with the IS set to Auto. On downloading using OM3 I noted the EXIF reported as IS OFF... After playing a little more and getting the...
After I release the shutter, and I assume after it closes, I hear another sound, soft, like gears running, for a second or two. This seems to have started recently. I'm on IS1, not using very long shutter speeds (1/40 or shorter), the camera is not set on delay to avoid shutter shock, and I don't remember hearing this until recently. Is this a sign of wear, malfunction, or what? The pictures are fine.

On the Pens, you can set the dial direction in the menu to [Custom B>Dial Direction>Menu>] either (1) CCW or (2) CW to go to the next item in the menu. I use (2), since, down in the menu and CW suits me. With my E-PL3, this has no effect on selection in the SCP, but on my E-PL6, it does! For example, when selecting IS in the SCP on the E-PL3, CW turns generate the sequence [Off -> IS1 -> IS2 -> IS3], and this is independent of the dial direction setting in menus. With my E-PL6, using dial...
Hi folks, Is there a hardware reset function for the Olympus E-P5 that I can activate at power-up? I seem to get half way there by holding the OK button at power up, but not all the way there. Situation: The camera worked fine on Saturday. I powered it up on Sunday morning and I get this: Rear LCD activates with blurry screen, but absolutely no information text or icons Aperture blades rattle (rattlesnake sound) Screen goes blank Camera unresponsive If I hold the OK button when I power on,...
Hi FM's, Need your expert advice. I am planning to buy lee filter holder and couple of filters either from Hitech or LEE. I am the hobbyist photographer and and I have the following gears. I've just been shooting with my new Rokinon 7.5 FE lens on my E-M5 and I set the focal length on IS-1 to 8mm. Now I've switched back to my Oly 12-40 zoom and I'm curious if the E-M5 will automatically recognize this lens? I've looked at the IS-1 setting through my SCP and it still says 8 on the focal length? Any advice would be appreciated! --Bobby

Hello Friends, I am a amateur photographer blessed to going on my first Safari (Tanzania) in the beginning of 2014. I am traveling in a 4x4 jeep with a pop top and will be using bean bags on the top/windows. I have rented a 300mm f/2.8L Is lens for the month but have a few additional questions. Which body do you recommend I put the 300mm on? I also am happy to rent the Canon 1.4x Extender if you think it would be best. I would like to have two bodies one with the telephoto and one with the...
With advice here, reading the suggested links and the purchase of VueScan I have been capturing 15 year old memories - but not very well.I confess to being somewhat disappointed and confused. Using the canon 4200F with Vuescan should I be able to get sharp detailed pictures or are 35mm color negatives incapable of holding sufficient information? The color negatives (Fuji 200-1) I am working with were exposed in 1997 with an Olympus IS1 (Bridge camera) that yielded pleasing 5X7 prints that...
Hi,Some cameras with image stabilization have different settings for the IS when shooting a still shot vs. when horizontal panning (e,g, the OM-D has IS1 and IS2). If I'm using the Oly 100-300M4/3 lens on a camera with the IS turned off, should I also leave the MegaOIS on the lens turned off when panning, or should I leave it on like I would for a stationary subject at low shutter speeds?--Richard (rb_stern),www.pbase.com/rb_sternrichard-s.smugmug.com
