Instagram has significantly expanded its web functionality, now allowing users to like and comment on images when logged into the social photo sharing service from their desktop computers.
You still won't be able to upload images from your desktop, Instagram's co-founder Kevin Systrom expained it this way on the service's blog:
"We do not offer the ability to upload from the web as Instagram is about producing photos on the go, in the real world, in realtime."
The expanded web features come exactly three months after the last boost to web viewing, when Instagram added Facebook-style web profiles.
You can read more about the changes on Instagram's blog.
