Samsung revealed the Galaxy S4 Zoom today.

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galazy S4 Zoom — the nearest thing yet to a true camera/phone hybrid.

Though we were impressed with the first iteration, the Galaxy Camera, the S4 Zoom offers even better spec, a smaller profile and more advanced smartphone features. Improved connectivity — standard WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE, and NFC connectivity — means you can truly use it to make phone calls. It's running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, offers a 4.3" Super AMOLED display and includes a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. The F3.1-6.3 lens is 24-240mm equivalent with a zoom ring around the barrel, in front of a 16MP 1/2.3" CMOS sensor. It includes optical image stabilisation, a built-in xenon flash, ISO 100-3200, 4 fps continuous shooting and 1080p30 HD video; images are stored to internal memory or microSD.

Samsung seems to have accounted for some of the drawbacks of the Samsung Galaxy Camera with the new S4 Zoom, accessed through the lens' zoom ring. Even during a phone call it seems the zoom ring wil allow you to snap a photo, and send it via MMS to the person you're talking to. The zoom ring will also offer access to shortcut features and camera modes.

Samsung are claiming the device offers many of the same features as the Samsung Galaxy S4, including  Touchwiz, which allows for device customization of the lock screen, notification bar and more. We're eager to see the S4's capture features on the S4 Zoom; we know it comes with Samsung's now-standard Smart Modes, which we've had fun playing with as we work on our full Samsung Galaxy S4 review.

The S4 Zoom will go on sale this summer.
