Polaroid announces Socialmatic availability
We've seen prototypes of Polaroid’s Socialmatic instant camera, but until now, it was looking more like a concept than a reality. The flat, square-shaped camera with more than a passing resemblance to Instagram's icon, will be available for consumers to officially purchase on January 1st, 2015 – just in time for your New Year’s Day bash.
The Polaroid Socialmatic houses a 14-megapixel camera for shooting those day-to-day moments, along with a 2 megapixel rear facing camera for tons of selfie love. The unit comes with 4GB of internal memory, which is complemented by an SD card slot.
Users will be able to control the camera via a 4.5 inch LCD touchscreen, giving access to a full version of Google’s Android operating system. Using GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth, you can share your favorite snaps to the cloud or send them to friends. In addition, a built in ZINK printer allows for instant printing gratification on the go.
This quirky “social sharing” camera from Polaroid will be priced at $299.99 and is available for pre-order.
