Shortlisted entries for the 2022 Astronomy Photographer of the Year

The shortlisted entries have been announced for the 14th annual Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition. Over 3,000 images were submitted by astrophotographers from 67 countries. Images of the Sun, Moon, Aurora Borealis and Milky Way are all in the running for the grand prize.

'The Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition is considered to be one of, if not THE premiere astrophotography competitions out there. Ever since starting this journey, I've always dreamed of being shortlisted. After all, many of the very people that have inspired and pushed me in my own journey have been shortlisted. Without them, I wouldn't be half the photographer I am now. There's a lot of hard work, planning, and travel that goes into capturing the stories our universe tells. And it feels amazing and humbling to now be amongst the list,' Marybeth Kiczenski tells DPReview.

Winners of the annual competition will be announced on September 15th via a live online awards ceremony. You can also sign up for a notification as soon as the announcement is made. An exhibition begins on September 17th at London's National Maritime Museum.
