He captured unusual cloud formations called Undulatus Asperatus rolling across the plains of North Dakota at sunset. As always, we recommend going full screen and cranking the resolution up.
Weirdest cloud formation I've ever seen was one fall morning in 1977. It was a mackerel sky with absolutely even ridges from horizon to horizon. It looked artificial. Unfortunately, I was on my way to school and didn't have a camera handy.
Gets really trippy by the end... At first it just looks like weird clouds, then an alien mist, but that final shot almost makes it look like it's underwater, amazeballs. Didn't mind the soundtrack at all myself.
Your correction made me Google it, so thanks! Pretty interesting, tho Wikipedia has the two terms as two distinct kinds of clouds (I guess there's hybrids?)... They also say this about Asperitas:
" Added to the International Cloud Atlas in March of 2017, it is the first cloud formation added since cirrus intortus in 1951.[2] The name translates approximately as "roughness".[3] "
3 months ago they weren't even officially a thing! :P I'm joking of course, didn't even know there was such a thing as a Cloud Atlas.
Undulatus Asperatus was the unofficial name until the clouds were recognised as in a group of their own (indeed) recently. I have seen them each year, so rare on one hand but not too rare on the other.
