Hands-on with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III

To help frame your shot with such a long zoom, Sony has provided a 'Zoom Assist' feature that lets you jump back to wider framing so that you can re-find your subject, before releasing the button to jump back to your chosen zoom level.

The clever thing is this: in the 'zoomed out' view, turning the zoom ring changes the size of the framing box (around the two women in the picture above), with the box outlining the field-of-view associated with the focal length you've selected by turning the zoom ring. Let go of the 'Zoom Assist' button, and the portion within the box will fill the frame as the lens zooms to the appropriate position.
