Paid apps have been in decline for some time across all platforms and now the makers one of the most popular camera apps for iOS, Camera+, have decided to adopt the so-called freemium model and offer a free version of their app that can be expanded via in-app purchases.

Camera+ Free offers many of the paid version's features, such as touch exposure and focus, a range of shooting modes, including Stabilizer, Timer and Burst, 6x digital zoom and a “front flash” that, like we've seen on the LG G4 or Motorola Moto X Play, briefly increases screen brightness to illuminate the subject. A horizontal level helps keep things straight and the Clarity adjustment can help give images a more " punchy" look. Scene modes include the usual suspects such as Food, Sunset, Night or Portrait, and the Lightbox function helps keep your images organized.

However, if you want manual control, additional editing features, TIFF files and some other features you'll have to get your credit card out. Individual features are $0.99 or you can pay $2.99 for the 5-in-1 bundle. The standard app is also still available at $2.99 in the App Store but Camera+ Free looks like a great way of trying the app before you buy.
