This helps empower the developer to take advantage of multi-platform support and develop innovative applications such as photo booths, animations, robotics/automations, event photography, mass portraits/passports, photogrammetry, among others.'

The upcoming PowerShot SX70 HS Developer Version is the first camera to have the new CCAPI integrated. It will allow developers to create their own methods for triggering and controlling the powered zoom lens and other features of the SX70.

As the new Camera Control API ‘features an agnostic operating system’ it can be operated from almost any platform, so will be compatible with a wide range of control devices from smartphones to desk top computers. The current ED SDK is only compatible with Windows and Mac environments.

The new version of the ED SDK, is available now on the Canon Developers Website, while the Camera Control API will be released in March 2019.
