Android users don't have to wait any longer for Vine. Twitter's six-second video sharing platform is now available for free in the Google Play store (for devices running Android 4.0 or newer).

The first version of Vine for Android is awaiting some imminent updates for push notifications, front-facing camera use, @mentions, hashtags and search. But in the meantime, Android users can upload and watch videos on Vine.

Vine's journey to the Google Play store has been long, spurring the creation of a half-dozen third party viewing apps for grumbling Android users.

Making up for lost time, Vine promises "exciting plans for features that could exist only on Android." Currently, the Android version already has two features missing from the iOS app: zoom (on compatible devices) and better offline browsing.
