Samyang releases updated 35mm F1.4 AF lens for Sony E-mount cameras
Optics manufacturer Samyang has announced the release of the AF 35mm F1.4 FE II, a second-generation autofocus prime for Sony E-mount camera systems.
The updated lens features a new optical construction that consists of 11 elements in nine groups, including two aspherical elements and two high-refractive index elements. Autofocus is driven via Samyang’s Linear Stepping Motor (STM), which Samyang claims has been optimized for video shooting in this new version by minimizing both vibration and noise. Samyang also says the Color Contribution Index (CCI) of this new lens has been improved over its predecessor.
The lens features an F1.4 through F22 aperture range, uses a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, has a minimum focusing distance of 29cm (.95ft), uses a 67mm front filter thread and is weather-sealed. Other features include a knurled aluminum focusing ring, a Focus Hold button and a customizable switch that can be programed with compatible Sony camera systems. It measures 75mm (3”) in diameter by 115mm (4.5”) long and weighs 719g (1.6lbs).
