Huawei P9 teaser reveals dual-camera setup
The P9, Huawei's upcoming flagship smartphone won't be revealed until April 2, but a teaser has already confirmed that the new model will feature a dual-camera setup, similar to what we have seen on the new LG G5 and what's being rumored for the iPhone 7.
According to numerous reported leaks, the P9 main camera module will feature a 12MP sensor, laser-AF and an OIS with the latter being a first for a dual-camera device. It's not clear if the second camera module will have a similar or different specification, or how exactly the two lenses will be used. Other components will be worthy of a flagship as well. The P9 will likely be powered by a Kirin 950 chipset and 3GB of RAM and come with a a 5.2-inch 1080p display. Internal storage is expected to be 32GB and the front camera to have a 5MP resolution.
A 3,000mAh battery will be squeezed into a 6.4mm thin metal body and on the software side of things Android 6.0 will be running the show. The P9 is not expected to be the only model to be revealed at the April launch. There is also likely to be a P9 Max model with larger screen and more robust processing but the same camera specification and a slightly down-specced P9 Lite. We are looking forward to the official launch and more detail on the Huawei dual-camera, but it already looks like 2016 will be the year of the dual-cam on smartphones.
