Is Samsung trying to compete with the likes of Google, Apple and Microsoft by hosting its own developer's conference?

If there is one thing that technology journalists love (and love to hate), it's a developers conference. All of the major operating system creators hold one to connect with the people who create products that require the use of their software.

The biggest developers conferences are held in San Francisco by Google, Apple and Microsoft. Earlier this year, Samsung hosted one with Intel to promote its Tizen mobile operating system. Today, Samsung announced that it is hosting its own.

The Samsung Developer's Conference will be held from October 27-29 in the Westin St. Francis Hotel in downtown San Francisco. So far, we are not sure exactly what the conference will be covering. Samsung has a huge array of consumer products, including TV's, phones, tablets, computers and cameras, but its early conference announcement left a lot to the imagination.

We will bring you any photography-related updates from Samsung's new conference.
