Manual focus and exposure control will help Moto X users capture photos in tough lighting situations.

Motorola has updated its Motorola Camera app for the Moto X to include manual focus and exposure. Users can also now lock exposure when taking a panorama.

The 10-megapixel Moto X's camera software has seen some updates before. In September, Motorola pushed out an update that fixed some problems with white balance, exposure, and focusing. But in order to get the fix, users had to update their whole operating system.

After the release of KitKat, Google-owned Motorola separated its Moto X camera app from the operating system and put it in the Google Play store. The move allowed the company to continue updating its app without forcing a whole system update on users. To some experts, this latest update is proving Google's commitment to making Motorola better than your average Android manufacturer.
