Nightcap Pro, an iOS app that allows for ultra-long exposures on the iPhone, has been updated and the new version adds two major functions to the feature set. Apple Watch owners can now use their wearable to control the app, and Nightcap Pro 7 now lets you preview both video and photo recording and control the main shooting functions from the Apple Watch.

In addition, the new photography tips feature gives less experienced photographers advice on how to improve an image, based on the captured scene. For example, when the app thinks an image is too dark it'll make suggestions how to fix it. When a tip is available, an exclamation mark is displayed at the top of the screen and the user can tap on it to see what Nightcap suggests.

Of course the app still offers all of the previously available features, including manual control over shooting parameters, video night mode, light trail mode and grain reduction. You can find more information about the app on the Nightcap Pro website and see some pretty nice looking sample pictures in the Nightcap gallery. Nightcap Pro 7 is available now in the App Store for $1.99.
