Last year Adobe launched Lightroom mobile, a companion app to the Lightroom desktop software, for Apple iPads and iPhones. Now the app has also been made available for mobile devices running Google's Android operating system.

Lightroom mobile allows you to edit, organize and share images on a mobile device and sync the results with the Lightroom desktop application via Adobe's Creative Cloud services. Key features of the app include the following:

  • Metadata and collection changes can be synced to the Lightroom catalog on a Mac or Windows computer.
  • Images from the smartphone gallery can be automatically imported and synced back to the Lightroom catalog on the desktop.
  • Images can be edited using Lightroom tools and presets known from the desktop application, including non-destructive processing using Smart Previews.
  • Photos can be flagged and rejected in the mobile app.

Lightroom mobile is available as a free download for Android phones from the Google Play store now. The app requires the Lightroom 5.4 or higher desktop application which is available as part of Adobe's Creative Cloud membership, including the Creative Cloud Photography plan which is currently USD$9.99 per month. New customers can download a 30-day trial version from the Adobe website. More information on Lightroom mobile is available on the Adobe blog and the Lightroom mobile website
