Alongside the new RF lens mount, Canon has announced a trio of EF-to-RF adapters for owners of current Canon DSLR lenses. There's a basic adapter, another with a customizable control wheel to emulate the extra (3rd) knurled ring on the new RF lenses, and a third with support for drop-in filters.

Having used the adapter capable of drop-in filters, we can confidently say many users of exotic glass (some without any front filter thread at all, like the EF 11-24 F4L) will be thrilled at the prospect of an adapter with one-size drop-in circular polarizer or variable ND filters. What's more: you won't have to buy step-up rings or multiple size filters for your lenses with different front filter threads. Any EF lens can take advantage of the drop-in filter, with no size cost - that we could tell - compared to the standard adapter.

The Mount Adapter EF-EOS R ($99.99, available in October) Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R ($199.99, also available in October) and Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R ($299.99 with a CPL, $399.99 with a variable ND, available in March) are compatible with both EF and EF-S lenses.
