Canon rolls out trio of inexpensive 20MP PowerShot ELPHs
Canon has introduced a trio of PowerShot ELPHs, which will serve as the company's entry-level digital compact cameras.
First up is the PowerShot ELPH 360 HS / IXUS 285 HS, which features a 20.2MP BSI CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4+ processor, 25-300mm equivalent lens, 3" LCD, 1080/30p video recording and Wi-Fi with NFC. It will be available in your choice of silver and purple in February for $209.99.
Next is the PowerShot ELPH 190 IS / IXUS 180, which uses a 20MP CCD and sports a 24-240mm equivalent lens, 3" LCD and Wi-Fi with NFC. Since it uses a CCD rather than a CMOS, video resolution tops out at 720p. The 190 IS will also ship in February in your choice of red, black, and blue for $159.99.
Finally there's the ELPH 180 / IXUS 175, which sits as Canon's bottom-end compact camera. It uses the same 20MP CCD as the ELPH 190 IS but has a 28-224mm equivalent lens without optical image stabilization. The ELPH 180 has a 2.7" LCD and 720p video recording. It comes in silver and red and will have an MSRP of only $119.99 when it ships next month.

The PowerShot SX540 HS digital camera builds on the features included in the PowerShot SX530 HS digital camera. The PowerShot SX540 HS has a powerful 50x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 24-1200mm) with Optical Image Stabilizer for outstanding optical performance. It features a new 20.3-Megapixeliii High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor with DIGIC 6 Image Processor that helps deliver high resolution combined with stunning low-light performance. A dedicated Wi-Fi button allows for easy sharing and transferring of images over Wi-Fi® and NFCTM technology. The new camera features a dedicated movie button so users can easily record 1080p Full HD video at an improved rate of up to 60 frames-per-second in MP4 format with stereo sound. The PowerShot SX540 HS digital camera has an improved advanced Zoom Framing Assist feature that intelligently controls the lens, making it easy to identify the main subject of the shot, even when the subject is moving.
